American Express, Bengaluru, seeks a Sr Manager in Commercial Portfolio Analytics focused on US Small Business Card Portfolio. The role centers on tracking key credit risk metrics, identifying emerging risk, and partnering with strategy owners to influence risk policy.

The candidate will lead analytics to monitor performance, perform deep dives, develop executive risk reporting, and collaborate across 2LOD/CCAR-aligned teams while leveraging Power BI and GenAI for forward-looking risk assessment.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience in Commercial or Credit risk management.
• Graduate degree in Economics, Statistics, Engineering or MBA preferred.
• Analytical problem-solving and decision-making with cross-team collaboration.
• Strong ability to translate analytics into business impact and risk insights.

Responsibilities

• Lead analytics for US SBS portfolio to track performance and risk indicators.
• Perform deep dives on trends and translate data into actionable insights for Senior Leadership.
• Develop executive risk reporting, governance materials and regulatory asks.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (2LOD, CCAR, Finance, GRC) on risk strategy.

Job Description:

This role is for Sr Manager in Commercial Portfolio Analytics focused on US Small Business Card Portfolio. The core responsibilities of the candidate will be the tracking and monitoring of key portfolio credit risk metrics, proactively identifying emerging risk, root cause analysis to decode risky trends and partnering with functional strategy owners to influence risk strategy.

Responsibilities

• Insight Driven Complex Analytics
• Lead US SBS portfolio analytics to track performance, identify key risk indicators and pre-emptive risk identification for Commercial CCO
• Perform deep dives on trends, translate complex data into actionable business insights that inform Senior leadership about emerging risk trends
• Lead development of executive-level risk reporting, governance materials and regulatory asks with utmost attention to detail
• Unstructured Problem Solving
• Partnering with Functional strategyto drive meaningful deep dives due to strategy changes for US SBS portfolio and assess its impact to portfolio KPIs .
• Manage the Multiple Regulatory deliverables like Risk Classification, CFRC in line with 2 LOD guidelines, maintaining strong partnership across 2nd LOD, Consumer & International portfolio teams. Build frameworks for RCA of breach/buffers of Key KPIs to share with regulators.
• Unlock opportunities for leveraging secondary data sources/tools for impact to delinquencies and write offs
• Market /Competitive Intelligence
• Maintain deep expertise in sources of competitive /market data sources --D&B, Aacer, Beckett & Lee, Experian ONS, Argus, Sandbox, US courts etc.
• Leverage external benchmarking and emerging trends to anticipate opportunities and inform leadership
• Strong Collaboration/Agility
• Partner with Credit Risk Functional teams, Consumer, Finance, RPDS, Blue light teams, GRC, CCAR etc.
• Demonstrate adaptability to new tools /process like Power BI/GenAIpreferred to enhance forward-looking risk assessment capabilities

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience in Commercial or Credit risk management
• Graduate degree in a quantitative or business discipline (Economics, Statistics, Engineering, MBA) strongly preferred
• Rigorous and analytical approach to problem-solving, decision-making, and prioritization collaboration across teams
• Strong strategic problem solving and ability to translate analytics into business impact
• Demonstrate Learning agility, make decisions quickly with highest level of integrity, show courage to challenge status quo
• Proven track record in supporting high paced, quick turnaround complex analysis & developing/delivering risk insights to Senior Leadership
• Demonstrate ability to efficiently hire, mentor, train and develop a team in all aspects of their role.
