Job summary

Alterna8 WM seeks an experienced product and investment professional to own the product shelf and act as the investment engine supporting the sales team. You will curate and evaluate funds, build model portfolios and asset-allocation frameworks, and provide investment guidance to Relationship Managers.

You will translate house views into practical, suitability-aligned recommendations and help drive the firm’s growth as it scales, with opportunities to advance toward Head of Products & Solutions

About the role

Alterna8 WM is building a wealth-management and distribution business across mutual funds, PMS and AIFs. We are looking for an experienced product and investment professional to own the product shelf and act as the investment engine that supports the sales team- curating and evaluating products, building model portfolios and asset-allocation frameworks, and enabling Relationship Managers with investment guidance and client-facing support.

This is a central Head-Office role for someone with strong research and portfolio-construction ability who can translate a house view into practical, suitability-aligned recommendations, and who wants to grow into a Head- Products & Solutions / Chief Investment Officer position as the firm scales.

Key responsibilities

Product selection & due diligence

• Curate and maintain the product shelf across MF, PMS, AIF and allied products (bonds, structured products) as relevant.
• Conduct due diligence and evaluation of funds, schemes and managers, with ongoing monitoring and periodic reviews.
• Evaluate NFOs and new PMS / AIF strategies and recommend additions to or removals from the shelf.
• Provide investment inputs for AMC / PMS / AIF empanelment and commercial terms.

Portfolio construction & asset allocation

• Build and maintain model portfolios and asset-allocation frameworks across client risk profiles.
• Translate the house view into recommended allocations and product baskets.
• Provide rebalancing guidance and support periodic portfolio reviews.

Investment advisory & RM enablement

• Act as investment counsellor, supporting Relationship Managers in client meetings on technical and complex discussions.
• Prepare investment proposals, portfolio reviews and pitch materials aligned to client suitability.
• Train and enable the sales team on products, markets and positioning.

Research & investment communication

• Track markets, funds and macro trends; produce investment notes, newsletters and market updates.
• Maintain product factsheets, comparison sheets and performance dashboards.
• Represent the investment view at internal reviews and client forums.

Governance & compliance

• Ensure product recommendations meet suitability and SEBI / AMFI norms and avoid mis-selling.
• Maintain product approval records and review documentation, and support conflict of interest and disclosure management.

Qualifications & certifications

• Graduate; MBA (Finance) / CA / CFA preferred.
• 5+ years in product management, investment research or advisory with an AMC, wealth manager, MFD, PMS / AIF, RIA or private bank.
• Strong grasp of MF / PMS / AIF products, markets and portfolio construction.
• NISM-Series-V-A required; NISM-Series-X-A & X-B (Investment Adviser), NISM-Series-XV (Research Analyst) and NISM-Series-XXI-A (PMS) preferred; CFA / CFP an advantage.

Skills & competencies

• Strong analytical and research skills, including fund and manager evaluation.
• Portfolio construction and asset allocation expertise across risk profiles.
• Ability to translate complex investment ideas into clear client and RM communication.
• Advanced Excel and familiarity with research / analytics tools (e.g. Morningstar, Value Research).
• Objectivity, integrity and a suitability-first mindset.

Preferred (good to have)

• A track record of building model portfolios and investment frameworks.
• Exposure to alternatives- AIFs, PMS and structured products.
• CFA / CFP / CWM qualification.
