Job summary

Schneider Electric is seeking a Head of Testing to lead the testing and validation functions for LV/MV electrical switchgear products. You will ensure compliance with customer requirements, industry standards, and quality expectations while driving product reliability, CAPA actions, and continuous improvement in testing and lab operations.

You will provide leadership in relay settings, protection systems, and troubleshooting, supporting new product development and design validation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering required.
  • 6–8 years in electrical switchgear testing or quality engineering.
  • Experience in LV/MV switchgear manufacturing is preferred.

Job Summary

The Head - Testing will lead the testing and validation function for electrical switchgear products, ensuring compliance with customer requirements, industry standards, and quality expectations. The role requires strong technical expertise in electrical systems, relay programming, electrical schematics, troubleshooting, and team leadership. The incumbent will drive product reliability, support new product development, and ensure continuous improvement in testing processes and laboratory operations.

Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership
  • Lead all testing and validation activities for LV/MV electrical switchgear products.
  • Review and approve testing procedures, test plans, and test reports.
  • Ensure compliance with IEC, IS, and customer-specific standards.
  • Interpret and review electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and control drawings.
  • Support product development teams through design validation and type testing.
  • Provide technical guidance on relay settings, relay programming, protection systems, and electrical troubleshooting.
Testing & Quality Assurance
  • Plan and execute routine, type, and special tests on switchgear assemblies.
  • Analyze test results and identify root causes of failures.
  • Drive corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) for test-related issues.
  • Ensure calibration and maintenance of testing equipment.
  • Monitor testing KPIs and improve first-pass yield.
Team Management
  • Lead, coach, and develop the testing team.
  • Allocate resources and manage workload to meet project deadlines.
  • Build technical competency within the team through training and mentoring.
  • Foster a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
Safety & Compliance
  • Ensure adherence to electrical safety standards and laboratory safety procedures.
  • Maintain compliance with ISO, IEC, and company quality systems.
  • Support internal and external audits.
Educational Qualification
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering (B.E./B.Tech Electrical Engineering) or equivalent
Experience
  • Minimum 6-8 years of experience in electrical switchgear testing, validation, or quality engineering.
  • Experience in LV/MV switchgear manufacturing is highly preferred.
  • Prior team leadership experience is desirable.
Technical Competencies
  • Strong knowledge of electrical switchgear and protection systems.
  • Expertise in electrical schematics and control circuits.
  • Experience in relay programming and relay coordination.
  • Knowledge of IEC, IS, and electrical testing standards.
  • Hands‑on experience with testing equipment and diagnostic tools.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Knowledge of root cause analysis and quality tools.
