Job summary

VOIS (Vodafone Intelligent Solutions) in Pune is seeking an experienced Oracle Application DBA Lead to join the ITO team in SP Infocity. The role requires 10–15 years of hands-on Oracle DB experience across versions, with a focus on performance tuning, automation and end-to-end service stability.

You will work closely with application teams to support database ops, upgrades, migrations, and security. Strong UNIX scripting and observability tooling expertise are essential for success in this role.

Qualifications

• 10–15 years of application database support and administration.
• Hands-on experience administering Oracle databases across multiple versions.
• Practical expertise in database and SQL performance tuning.
• Understanding of Oracle and non-Oracle database architectures.
• Experience configuring databases and providing operational support.
• Knowledge of memory, storage and cluster architecture and high availability.
• Advanced UNIX, shell scripting and at least one scripting language (e.g., Perl).
• Experience with proactive monitoring, automation and reconciliation.
• Experience with upgrades, migrations, backup and recovery, security and user access management.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
• Telecom industry knowledge is advantageous; ITIL certification is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Administer production Oracle databases and related operational activities.
• Analyze performance bottlenecks in databases and applications.
• Perform SQL and database performance tuning; support DML operations.
• Support database upgrades and migrations with integrations to other RDBMS.
• Apply knowledge of database architecture, memory and storage for HA.
• Manage database backup and recovery; assist with access management and audits.
• Monitor auditing and SOX compliance activities.
• Utilise monitoring/observability tools (EM, Grafana, Dynatrace, etc.).
• Develop scripts to automate BAU operations and improve stability.
• Collaborate with application teams for smooth database operations.
• Provide on-call support for high-priority issues.
• Contribute to proactive monitoring, automation and service improvement.
• Support service governance and end-to-end stability.

About this Role

We are seeking an experienced Oracle Application DBA Lead to join ITO in SP Infocity, Pune. The role requires 10 to 15 years of application database administration experience, with hands‑on expertise across multiple Oracle database versions.

You will support operational and critical database activities while contributing to end‑to‑end service stability, availability and continual improvement. The role combines Oracle database administration, performance optimisation, automation, monitoring and observability with service governance and collaboration with application teams.

You will also contribute to Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices and AI-driven optimisation initiatives across CRM and end‑to‑end operations, helping improve operational efficiency.

What you will do

• Administer and support production Oracle databases and associated operational activities.
• Analyse database and application performance bottlenecks, including scripts, code and user‑generated queries that may cause application slowness.
• Perform SQL and database performance tuning and support DML operations.
• Support database upgrades and migrations, including integrations with other RDBMS technologies.
• Apply knowledge of database architecture, memory architecture, storage architecture, clustering and high‑availability solutions.
• Manage database backup and recovery activities.Support user access management and security audits.
• Monitor and participate in auditing and SOX compliance activities.
• Use monitoring and observability solutions such as Enterprise Manager, Grafana, Dynatrace, AppDynamics, Kibana, Splunk or Zabbix.
• Perform log analysis, alert tuning, dashboard management and proactive monitoring.
• Develop and maintain environment support and maintenance scripts to automate BAU operational activities and improve system stability.
• Use advanced UNIX skills to manage jobs and batch processes and to tune or create processes where required.Work closely with application teams to support database operations.
• Use ticketing tools to manage operational activities and incidents.Provide on‑call support for high‑priority database issues.
• Contribute to proactive monitoring, automation, reconciliation and continual service improvement.
• Support service governance and end‑to‑end service stability and availability.
• Apply SRE practices and contribute to AI-driven optimisation initiatives across CRM and end‑to‑end operations.

Who you are

• You have 10 to 15 years of experience in application database support and administration.

• You have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant professional experience.
• Telecom industry knowledge would be advantageous.ITIL certification is desirable.
