VOIS (Vodafone Intelligent Solutions) in Pune is seeking an experienced Oracle Application Database Administrator with 4–7 years of relevant experience. The role focuses on Oracle database administration, performance tuning, high availability, backups, upgrades and migrations, security, monitoring, and automation.

You will work with SRE practices and collaborate with application teams to maintain database stability and efficiency.

Qualifications

  • 4–7 years of relevant experience, including at least four years in application database support operations.
  • Hands-on experience administering Oracle databases across multiple versions.
  • Practical knowledge of database administration and database architecture.
  • Understanding of Oracle and non-Oracle database architectures.
  • Experience in database and SQL performance tuning.
  • Knowledge of backup and recovery processes.
  • Advanced UNIX knowledge and shell scripting; one additional language such as Perl.
  • Familiarity with observability and monitoring tools such as Dynatrace, AppDynamics, Kibana, Splunk or Zabbix.
  • ITIL knowledge is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Administer and support production Oracle databases and related operational activities.
  • Analyze database performance bottlenecks including scripts and queries.
  • Perform SQL and database performance tuning and support DML operations.
  • Monitor databases using Oracle Enterprise Manager and Grafana.
  • Contribute to proactive monitoring, alert tuning, dashboards and log analysis.
  • Manage database user access and assist security audits; participate in SOX compliance.
  • Support database upgrades and migrations; integrate with other RDBMS.
  • Perform backup and recovery activities for production databases.
  • Collaborate with application teams to support database operations and resolve incidents.
  • Use ticketing tools to manage requests and on-call incidents.
  • Develop UNIX shell scripts to automate BAU tasks; support batch jobs on UNIX.

About This Role

We are seeking an experienced Oracle Application Database Administrator with 4–7 years of relevant experience to support database administration and critical operational activities from SP Infocity, Pune.

The role focuses on Oracle database administration, performance tuning, high availability, backup and recovery, upgrades and migrations, security, monitoring and operational automation. You will work closely with application teams to maintain database stability and availability while contributing to continual service improvement.

The role also provides exposure to Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices, AI-driven optimisation initiatives, CRM and end-to-end operations, service governance, and operational efficiency.

What you will do
  • Administer and support production Oracle databases and associated operational activities
  • Analyse database and application performance bottlenecks, including scripts, code and user-generated queries that affect application performance
  • Perform SQL and database performance tuning and support DML operations
  • Monitor databases using tools such as Oracle Enterprise Manager and Grafana
  • Contribute to proactive monitoring, alert tuning, dashboarding and log analysis using observability technologies such as Dynatrace, AppDynamics, Kibana, Splunk or Zabbix
  • Manage database user access and support security audits.Participate in auditing and SOX compliance activities
  • Support database upgrades and migrations, including integration with other relational database management systems
  • Support production databases and high-availability environments.Perform backup and recovery activities
  • Work closely with application teams to support database operations and resolve incidents
  • Use ticketing tools to manage operational requests and issues
  • Provide on-call support for high-priority database incidents
  • Develop and maintain UNIX and shell scripts to automate BAU operational and maintenance activities
  • Support jobs and batch processes at UNIX level, including tuning existing processes and creating new processes where required
  • Contribute to SRE practices, automation, reconciliation and continual service improvement
  • Support service stability, availability and operational optimisation
Who you are
  • You have 4–7 years of relevant experience, including at least four years in application database support operations
  • You have hands-on experience administering Oracle databases across multiple versions
  • You have practical knowledge of database administration and database architecture
  • You understand Oracle and non-Oracle database architectures
  • You have experience in database and SQL performance tuning
  • You understand database configuration and operational support
  • You are familiar with memory architecture, storage architecture and cluster architecture
  • You have experience administering production databases and understand high-availability approaches
  • You have experience with database upgrades and migrations
  • You understand backup and recovery processes
  • You have advanced UNIX knowledge and experience with shell scripting and at least one additional scripting language, such as Perl
  • You understand proactive monitoring, automation, reconciliation and continual service improvement
  • You have experience with, or an understanding of, observability and monitoring tools such as Dynatrace, AppDynamics, Kibana, Splunk or Zabbix
  • You understand log analysis, alert tuning, dashboards and proactive monitoring
  • You have analytical, communication, stakeholder-management and technical-leadership skills
  • You hold a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant professional experience
  • ITIL certification is desirable
  • Knowledge of the telecommunications industry would be beneficial
