Job description

We are looking for an experienced Senior Manager – Operations (Mechanical SME) with strong Data Center Operations experience to lead mechanical infrastructure operations, maintenance, reliability, and performance of critical facilities. The role will be responsible for ensuring high availability, operational excellence, safety, energy efficiency, and compliance across critical mechanical systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end mechanical operations and maintenance for Data Center facilities and critical infrastructure.
• Provide technical leadership as the Mechanical SME for all mechanical systems, including:
• Chillers and Chilled Water Systems
• Cooling Towers
• Pumps and Heat Exchangers
• CRAH/CRAC Units
• AHUs and ventilation systems
• PAC/Precision Cooling Systems
• HVAC and BMS interfaces
• Fire-fighting and associated mechanical systems
• Plumbing and water treatment systems
• Ensure 24x7 availability and reliability of mechanical systems supporting critical IT loads.
• Develop and implement preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance strategies.
• Review equipment performance, operating parameters, alarms, trends and system health to identify potential failures proactively.
• Lead RCA, FMEA, risk assessment and corrective/preventive action for critical mechanical failures and recurring issues.
• Establish and monitor SOPs, MOPs and EOPs for critical mechanical systems.
• Lead planned maintenance activities with minimal impact on data center operations.
• Ensure strict adherence to change management, permit-to-work, LOTO and MOC processes.
• Manage emergency response and recovery for mechanical system failures and critical incidents.
• Drive energy efficiency and PUE improvement initiatives through optimization of cooling systems and operating parameters.
• Monitor key operational KPIs, equipment availability, capacity, efficiency and maintenance performance.
• Coordinate with Electrical, BMS/EPMS, IT, Security, EHS and other operations teams for integrated facility operations.
• Manage OEMs, AMC partners, facility management agencies and specialist vendors.
• Review vendor performance, maintenance reports, service levels and compliance with contractual requirements.
• Ensure statutory, regulatory, safety and environmental compliance related to mechanical systems.
• Conduct periodic inspections, audits and health assessments of critical mechanical infrastructure.
• Support capacity planning, system upgrades, retrofit projects and facility expansion initiatives.
• Review engineering designs, equipment specifications, method statements, commissioning plans and technical proposals from a mechanical operations perspective.
• Participate in commissioning, integrated systems testing (IST), performance testing and handover of new data center facilities.
• Develop technical competency and conduct training for operations engineers and technicians.
• Maintain accurate documentation including asset registers, maintenance records, SOPs, MOPs, EOPs, drawings and equipment history.

• Ensure operational readiness during maintenance windows, high-load conditions and critical events.
