Job summary

Scrubsy is seeking a Senior Manager/Manager - R&D to drive formulation development and end-to-end product lifecycle from concept to commercial launch. You will oversee lab-scale formulations, pilot trials, and scale-up, coordinating with cross-functional teams to ensure quality and market readiness.

Qualifications

• B.Tech (Chemical Engineering), B. Pharma, M. Pharma, or M.Sc. in Chemistry or equivalent are required.
• 6+ years of R&D experience in FMCG formulation development (Home Care, Personal Care, Fabric Care or Hygiene).
• Proven track record of taking a product from concept through commercial launch (NPD/EPD).
• Hands-on experience with plant operations and technology transfer from lab/pilot to factory scale.
• Experience managing cross-functional stakeholders and preparing technical documentation.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end formulation development and lifecycle management (NPD & EPD) for the product portfolio.
• Design and execute lab-scale formulations, pilot trials, and manufacturing scale-up; oversee technology transfer and related documentation.
• Plan and run stability studies, product performance evaluations, and wash/efficacy testing to validate formulations.
• Drive claims substantiation through consumer studies and benchmarking to support launches.
• Lead vendor qualification, formulation optimization, and cost-optimization while safeguarding quality and supply.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to deliver projects and prepare stability protocols/reports and specifications.
• Identify opportunities for IP generation and stay updated with literature and market trends.

Brief

We are looking for a Senior Manager/Manager - R&D to drive formulation development, new and existing product development (NPD/EPD), and technology transfer for our product portfolio. This role owns the product journey end-to-end — from concept and lab-scale formulation through pilot trials, stability studies, claims substantiation, and commercial-scale technology transfer — while collaborating closely with other departments.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end formulation development and lifecycle management (NPD & EPD) of our product portfolio
• Design and execute lab-scale formulations, pilot trials, and manufacturing scale-up; oversee technology transfer, and related documentation
• Plan and run stability studies, product performance evaluation, and wash/efficacy testing to validate formulations against benchmarks
• Drive claims substantiation through consumer studies, competitive benchmarking, and performance testing to support product launch and marketing claims
• Lead alternate raw material and vendor qualification, formulation optimization, and cost-optimization initiatives while safeguarding product quality and supply continuity
• Collaborate cross-functionally with various stakeholders to deliver projects
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation — stability protocols/reports, Product Design Criteria (PDC), specifications, industrial trial reports, and regulatory documentation
• Identify opportunities for patent filing and contribute to IP generation where applicable
• Track literature, market trends, and emerging ingredients/technologies to feed the innovation pipeline

What We Are Looking For

Mandatory Requirement

• B.Tech (Chemical Engineering)/B. Pharma/M. Pharma/M.Sc. (Chemistry) or equivalent
• 6+ years of R&D experience in FMCG formulation development, specifically in Home Care, Personal Care, Fabric Care, or Hygiene categories
• Proven track record of taking at least one product from concept through commercial launch (full NPD/EPD cycle)
• Hands-on experience with plant operations and technology transfer from lab/pilot scale to factory-scale commissioning
• Demonstrated experience managing cross-functional stakeholders
• Working knowledge of stability studies, product performance evaluation, and technical documentation

Additional Requirement

• Exposure to claims substantiation and consumer testing methodologies
• Experience with alternate vendor/raw material qualification and cost-optimization projects
• Prior experience in patent filing or IP documentation
