Wind Turbine Generator (WTG): Adani Wind Turbine Generators (WTG) is a leading player in the renewable energy sector, specializing in the design, manufacturing, and installation of high-performance wind turbine systems. With a commitment to sustainability, Adani WTGs deliver efficient and reliable energy solutions, contributing to clean power generation across global markets.

Job Purpose: The Lead - Electrical drives the design, integration, and validation of turbine electrical systems, ensuring high performance, reliability, and compliance with industry standards. The role focuses on SCADA integration, subsystem validation, thermal management, and power quality optimization, addressing compatibility challenges and ensuring efficient load distribution. It leads the testing and maintenance of critical components like converters, transformers, and generators to align with performance goals. The role supports field operations, conducts root cause analyses for subsystem failures, and implements corrective actions to improve reliability. Additionally, it collaborates with cross-functional teams to refine designs and ensure manufacturability, contributing to long-term operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities
  • Subsystem-Level Electrical Design: Lead the end-to-end design and optimization of turbine electrical subsystems, focusing on high-performance inverters, control circuits, and transformer interfaces for reliable grid integration. Optimize nacelle cabling layouts to reduce electromagnetic interference (EMI), minimize power losses, and improve thermal management in compact spaces. Design redundant electrical pathways to enhance fault tolerance and ensure continuous turbine operation under extreme conditions.
  • Integration of Electrical and SCADA Systems: Coordinate the seamless integration of electrical components with SCADA platforms, ensuring real-time data capture, fault detection, and rapid response mechanisms. Resolve compatibility issues between SCADA software and electrical subsystems, focusing on synchronization of monitoring with turbine control logic. Develop protocols for optimized data flow, ensuring minimal latency and reliable system feedback loops.
  • Component Validation and Testing: Manage comprehensive testing protocols for turbine electrical components, including insulation resistance, power converter efficiency, and transformer load handling. Collaborate with instrumentation teams to ensure accurate sensor placement and calibration, capturing critical performance metrics. Supervise fault simulation tests, such as grid fault ride-through (FRT) events, to validate subsystem behavior under adverse conditions.
  • Power Conversion Optimization: Oversee optimization of power conversion systems by implementing harmonic distortion mitigation strategies and fine-tuning inverter control parameters. Analyze power quality metrics to ensure adherence to grid compliance standards, focusing on voltage stability and transient response performance.
  • Failure Analysis and Corrective Actions: Conduct root cause failure analysis (RCFA) for electrical subsystem failures, such as converter overheating or generator insulation breakdown. Define and implement corrective actions, including design modifications for improved thermal management and enhanced material selection for reliability. Develop reliability improvement plans, integrating predictive maintenance schedules into operational workflows.
  • Collaboration with Instrumentation Teams: Work closely with instrumentation engineers to configure and validate sensors for monitoring voltage, current, and thermal performance across components. Ensure SCADA-integrated data acquisition systems provide accurate and actionable insights into subsystem performance. Lead troubleshooting efforts for sensor-related issues, ensuring minimal disruption to turbine monitoring and control.
  • Grid Interface and Compliance: Analyze grid connection points to validate voltage stability and ensure compliance with international standards, such as IEC 61400-21. Develop real-time voltage and frequency regulation algorithms to support grid stability during transient and steady-state operations.
  • Thermal and Power Loss Analysis: Conduct detailed thermal performance studies for converters, transformers, and cabling, focusing on heat dissipation efficiency and thermal stability under varying loads. Analyze power loss patterns in nacelle wiring, identifying hotspots and proposing improved layouts or materials to enhance efficiency. Validate thermal simulations with field data to ensure subsystem performance aligns with design expectations.
  • Technical Reporting and Documentation: Prepare detailed technical reports highlighting subsystem performance evaluations, failure analyses, and actionable recommendations for improvement. Document testing procedures, validation protocols, and outcomes for traceability during audits and certifications.
  • Mentorship and Guidance: Mentor junior engineers in advanced topics, such as harmonic distortion analysis and thermal management in high-voltage systems. Conduct regular technical reviews of team deliverables to ensure alignment with project requirements and quality standards. Develop training modules focusing on the latest advancements in electrical engineering and renewable energy technologies.
