Job summary

Tata Motors is seeking a cost engineering specialist to develop target costs, should-cost models, and tooling cost estimates for interior/exterior trims, seating, electrical and electronics components. The role supports Design-to-Cost (DTC) and Source-to-Cost (STC) initiatives through benchmarking, teardown analysis, VAVE, supplier cost analysis and manufacturing cost optimization.

The incumbent will drive cost reduction initiatives in collaboration with Engineering and Purchasing teams,

• Prepare tooling cost estimates and support Capex planning.
• Perform supplier quotation analysis and support commercial negotiations.
• Conduct cost driver analysis, benchmarking, competition teardown, and VAVE activities.
• Drive cost reduction and cost avoidance initiatives with Engineering and Purchase teams.
• Execute annual cost-saving and value-engineering initiatives.

Job description

Purpose of the Role :

Responsible for developing target costing, should costing, tooling cost estimation, and cost reduction strategies for any one Interior/Exterior Trims, Seating, Electrical, and Electronics components. The role supports Design-to-Cost (DTC) and Source-to-Cost (STC) initiatives through benchmarking, teardown analysis, VAVE, supplier cost analysis, and manufacturing cost optimization.

Key Responsibilities :

• Develop detailed should-cost models and target costs for any one i.e Body Trim, Electrical, and Electronics components.


• Prepare tooling cost estimates and support Capex planning.


• Perform supplier quotation analysis and support commercial negotiations.


• Conduct cost driver analysis, benchmarking, competition teardown, and VAVE activities.


• Drive cost reduction and cost avoidance initiatives with Engineering and Purchase teams.


• Develop cost models and technology repositories for component categories.


• Support sourcing decisions through should-cost-based negotiation fact packs.


• Execute annual cost-saving and value-engineering initiatives.
