Job summary

EG seeks an experienced Senior Manager, Cloud & Platform Operations to lead a multi-site team across India, Poland, and the Nordics. The role drives automation, standardised services, and a modern hosting strategy using Azure, Kubernetes, and serverless approaches.

You will report to the Vice President, Engineering for the Retail & Supply Chain division, guiding live operations and continuous modernization while maintaining 24/7 service reliability.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of overall experience with at least 3 years in people management.
• Proven track record leading managers and teams through automation and change.
• Strong cloud and platform engineering experience on Azure, Kubernetes, serverless and IaC.
• Experience with traditional hosting, on-premises operations, and 24/7 services against SLAs (ITIL, SRE).
• Ability to build trust across global teams (Nordics, Poland, India) and travel occasionally to Europe.
• Fluent English and strong stakeholder communication at director level.

About the role:

EG hosts business-critical software for customers across industries, both as SaaS and on-premises. Today much of that estate is operated manually, and many installations are customer specific. We are changing that and moving towards standardised services, containers and serverless on Azure, and everything delivered as code.

As Senior Manager, you will lead this journey. You will set the direction for the next steps, bring the people along, and keep the wider division on board. We are looking for someone who sees what needs to happen next and who drives it forward on their own, without waiting for instructions.

The area also has a 24/7 team who keeps watch over our customers' services around the clock and will react based on SOP's and report on SLA's. The organization is a multi-site team of devops, engineers and monitoring specialists across the Nordics, Poland and India. You will lead a group of managers and their teams and be a key voice in building leadership depth in Mangaluru.

You will report directly to Vice President, Engineering for the Retail & Supply Chain division.

Your Task:

• 40% people leadership - designing and leading your teams and, through them, the wider organisation across India, Poland and the Nordics.
• 40% platform and operations strategy - 3 main themes:
• Everything as code: Moving from manual installations and customer-specific setups to standardised, automated delivery with infrastructure as code, CI/CD and GitOps.
• Modern hosting: Moving workloads to Kubernetes and serverless on Azure, incrementally and while we keep delivering to customers.
• Run what must stay, stop what should not: Keeping IBM Power and traditional hosting reliable, running 24/7 monitoring, and simplifying our service portfolio by retiring what we should no longer support.
• 20% stakeholder engagement - bringing division leaders and directors along, representing the platform direction. Handling major incident reporting to customers. Working together with dev teams to simplify infrastructure. You will own the modernisation as a continuous part of live operations - not a side project or a stop-the-world migration.

You are the ideal candidate if:

• You have a proven track record leading managers, not only individual contributors.
• You have led a team from manual operations to automation, and you can guide everyone through the change, including those who prefer the old way.
• You have 12+ years of overall experience, including at least 3 years of team management experience.
• You have strong experience with cloud and platform engineering on Azure, Kubernetes, serverless and infrastructure as code, and can challenge technical direction.
• You have experience with traditional hosting and on-premises operations, and with running 24/7 services against SLAs (ITIL, SRE, observability).
• You have managed teams across cultures and time zones, and you know how to build trust across the Nordics, Poland and India, and is willing and able to travel on occasional basis to Europe.
• You have influenced senior stakeholders, including at director level, and have made the case for stopping or retiring services.
• You are self-driven and set direction on your own, bringing proposals rather than waiting for instructions.
• You are fluent in English.
• You are located in, or willing to relocate to, Mangaluru. The role is office-based.

Nice to have:

• Experience with IBM Power / IBM i operations.
• Experience delivering both SaaS and on-premises solutions to customers.
• Exposure to AI-assisted or highly automated operations.
