Role Purpose
The Senior Manager Applications, Engineering & Construction Technology will be responsible for the implementation, administration, support, adoption, training, governance, and continuous improvement of engineering, design, BIM, and project management applications across the organization.
This role will be part of the IT Department and will act as a functional and technical bridge between IT, Engineering, Design, Projects, Planning, Consultants, Vendors, and Site Teams.
The incumbent will be responsible for driving effective utilization of applications such as AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks, Civil 3D, Autodesk Construction Cloud / BIM 360, BIM Collaborate Pro, Microsoft Project, and other engineering / construction technology platforms. The role will also support digital transformation initiatives including application rollout, process standardization, data / file migration, user training, troubleshooting, adoption monitoring, license optimization, and integration with other enterprise systems.
Key Responsibilities
1. Application Implementation & Management
- Lead end-to-end implementation, rollout, administration, and enhancement of engineering, design, BIM, and project management applications.
- Manage the Autodesk ecosystem including AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks, Civil 3D, Autodesk Construction Cloud, BIM 360, BIM Collaborate Pro, and related platforms.
- Support implementation and usage of Microsoft Project and other project planning / project management tools.
- Work closely with Engineering, Design, Projects, Planning, QS, Contracts, Procurement, and Site teams to understand business requirements.
- Translate business requirements into functional specifications for IT teams, OEMs, consultants, and software vendors.
- Establish application standards, workflows, templates, access controls, naming conventions, and governance mechanisms.
- Ensure applications are configured and aligned with business processes and project execution requirements.
2. User Adoption & Digital Enablement
- Drive organization-wide adoption of engineering and project management applications across corporate and site teams.
- Promote digital workflows for design coordination, drawing management, document control, approvals, RFIs, project tracking, and collaboration.
- Monitor application usage and identify gaps in adoption, user behavior, and system utilization.
- Develop adoption strategies to improve productivity, compliance, and system usage across departments.
- Act as a change champion for new systems, upgrades, process changes, and technology-led transformation.
- Work with stakeholders to simplify usage and ensure applications are practically adopted by end users.
3. Training & Capability Development
- Design and conduct regular training programs for design teams, engineering users, project teams, planning teams, consultants, and site users.
- Prepare and maintain user manuals, SOPs, FAQs, training guides, workflow documents, and knowledge repositories.
- Conduct refresher sessions, hands-on workshops, and advanced training programs to enhance user capability.
- Visit project sites as required to train and handhold users for effective application usage.
- Coordinate with OEMs, consultants, and external partners for specialized application training.
- Evaluate user proficiency and recommend additional training or support where required.
4. Technical Support & Service Delivery
- Provide functional and technical support for engineering, BIM, and project management applications.
- Handle L2 / L3 application support including user issues, configuration problems, workflow errors, access issues, performance concerns, and application-related queries.
- Manage incident, service request, and escalation processes in line with defined SLAs.
- Coordinate with internal IT teams, OEMs, software vendors, and implementation partners for issue resolution.
- Track recurring issues and recommend permanent fixes, process improvements, or system enhancements.
- Ensure application availability, performance, reliability, and user satisfaction.
5. Data / File Migration & Document Governance
- Support migration of legacy files, drawings, documents, models, project data, and engineering records into new platforms.
- Ensure proper classification, indexing, tagging, version control, and access management for migrated data.
- Coordinate with Design, Engineering, Projects, and Site teams to validate completeness and accuracy of migrated information.
- Support transition from manual folders, local drives, shared folders, or legacy systems to centralized digital platforms.
- Ensure data hygiene, document control discipline, and adherence to approved workflows.
- Maintain governance around critical project documentation, drawings, BIM models, and application data.
6. Continuous Improvement & Innovation
- Identify opportunities for process automation, workflow optimization, and improved collaboration across project teams.
- Evaluate emerging technologies in BIM, construction technology, digital engineering, project controls, mobility, analytics, and automation.
- Recommend enhancements to existing applications based on user feedback and business requirements.
- Facilitate integration of engineering applications with ERP, DMS, collaboration platforms, project management systems, and reporting dashboards.
- Promote BIM and digital engineering best practices across projects.
- Work with leadership to drive standardization, transparency, productivity, and data-driven decision-making.
7. Vendor, OEM & License Management
- Manage software licenses, renewals, compliance, AMC, and support contracts for engineering applications.
- Monitor software utilization and optimize license consumption across departments and users.
- Coordinate with software vendors, OEMs, consultants, and implementation partners for support, upgrades, enhancements, and training.
- Evaluate vendors and solutions for new requirements or improvement initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with software usage policies, audit requirements, licensing terms, and IT governance standards.
8. Governance, Reporting & Compliance
- Define and monitor SLAs, KPIs, service metrics, adoption metrics, application performance indicators.
- Prepare periodic dashboards and reports on application health, user adoption, license utilization, issue resolution, and support performance.
- Maintain documentation related to applications, configurations, workflows, user access, training, and support processes.
- Ensure data security, role-based access, backup, and business continuity for critical applications.
- Support internal audits, compliance reviews, and management reporting related to business applications.

Qualification
- B.E. / B.Tech in Civil Engineering is strongly preferred / mandatory.
- Additional qualification in IT, BIM, Construction Management, Project Management, Digital Transformation, or Business Applications will be an added advantage.
- Certifications in Autodesk tools, BIM, Project Management, Microsoft Project, ERP, or Digital Transformation will be preferred.
Experience
- 10 to 15 years of total experience in real estate, construction, infrastructure, EPC, architecture, design, or engineering organizations.
- Minimum 4 to 6 years of experience in managing or supporting engineering / BIM / construction technology applications.
- Prior experience in IT Applications, Business Applications, Digital Transformation, BIM implementation, or Engineering Systems support will be strongly preferred.
- Experience in application rollout, user training, troubleshooting, data migration, vendor coordination, and adoption tracking is desirable.
- Real estate developer / construction organization experience will be an added advantage.
