Overview & Key Responsibilities
Nasscom Foundation’s Women Entrepreneurship vertical works towards bridging skilling gaps and strengthening the entrepreneurship ecosystem in India to drive sustainable social transformation through technology. The Foundation supports women entrepreneurs, micro-enterprises, start-ups, and underserved communities by enabling access to entrepreneurial skills, digital and financial literacy, business development support, market opportunities, and technology-led solutions.
The Senior Manager – Women Entrepreneurship Program will lead the design, implementation, and scale-up of women’s economic empowerment and entrepreneurship initiatives. The role requires a seasoned development professional with deep expertise in women-led enterprises, SHG ecosystems, MSME development, entrepreneurship promotion, stakeholder partnerships, and programme management. The incumbent will be responsible for driving impactful interventions that enable women entrepreneurs to start, sustain, formalize, and grow their enterprises while building strong ecosystem partnerships across government, corporates, financial institutions, incubators, and civil society organizations.
As key member of the team, s/he/they will be managing the Entrepreneurship initiatives of the Foundation. Broad structure of responsibilities is noted below.
A. Key Responsibilities
Program Leadership and Management
- Lead and manage large-scale women entrepreneurship and CSR-funded programmes across multiple geographies.
- Drive end-to-end programme planning, implementation, monitoring, and reporting while ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
- Develop and execute scalable entrepreneurship strategies that address local needs and promote sustainable livelihoods and enterprise growth.
- Ensure effective coordination with internal teams, implementation partners, donors, government stakeholders, and ecosystem actors for successful programme delivery.
- Develop project implementation plans, risk mitigation strategies, and governance mechanisms to ensure achievement of programme objectives.
- Ensure adoption of best practices, innovation, and technology-enabled approaches across all entrepreneurship initiatives.
Women’s Economic Empowerment and Enterprise Development
- Lead initiatives focused on women-led enterprises, micro-enterprises, MSMEs, social enterprises, and livelihood promotion programmes.
- Strengthen entrepreneurship ecosystems through interventions related to business formalization, access to finance, market linkages, digital enablement, business mentoring, incubation, and acceleration support.
- Design and implement capacity-building programmes for women entrepreneurs with a focus on digital, financial, and business skills.
- Support the development of sustainable enterprise models that create long-term economic opportunities for women and marginalized communities.
- Leverage technology and innovation to enhance enterprise productivity, growth, and market access.
Partnerships and Ecosystem Building
- Identify, establish, and manage strategic partnerships with corporates, government agencies, financial institutions, incubators, accelerators, industry bodies, NGOs, and development organizations.
- Build and maintain trusted relationships with donors, partners, and key stakeholders in the entrepreneurship ecosystem.
- Engage with State Rural Livelihood Missions (SRLMs), National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM), and other government programmes to strengthen women’s entrepreneurship initiatives.
- Contribute to resource mobilization efforts and support the development of new programme opportunities and institutional partnerships.
Monitoring, Evaluation and Knowledge Management
- Establish robust programme monitoring and evaluation frameworks, including Theory of Change (ToC), Project Implementation Plans (PIP), outcome tracking, and impact assessment mechanisms.
- Ensure timely documentation, donor reporting, knowledge management, and dissemination of programme learnings and best practices.
- Contribute to sectoral research, thought leadership, knowledge products, and ecosystem insights related to women entrepreneurship and economic empowerment.
- Analyze programme data and generate actionable insights to improve programme effectiveness and impact.
- Lead and mentor programme teams and implementation partners to ensure high-quality execution.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, innovation, and continuous learning.
- Support cross-functional coordination within the Foundation to maximize programme outcomes and stakeholder value.
Other Responsibilities
- Represent Nasscom Foundation at sector forums, partner meetings, conferences, and stakeholder engagements.
- Undertake any additional responsibilities aligned with organizational priorities and programme objectives.
B. Key Requirements
- Strong understanding of the women entrepreneurship, MSME, livelihoods, and enterprise development ecosystem in India.
- Demonstrated experience in Women Economic Empowerment (WEE) programmes and entrepreneurship promotion initiatives.
- Deep knowledge of SHG-based enterprise development, business formalization, access to finance, market linkages, and enterprise growth strategies.
- Experience managing partnerships across corporates, government departments, financial institutions, incubators, NGOs, and ecosystem stakeholders.
- Strong programme and project management capabilities, including budget management and compliance oversight.
- Sound understanding of Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E), Theory of Change (ToC), impact measurement, and reporting frameworks.
- Strong documentation, proposal writing, presentation, and communication skills.
- Knowledge of emerging technologies and their application in entrepreneurship development programmes.
- Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills.
- Passion for social impact and commitment to advancing women’s economic empowerment.
C. Qualification and Experience
- Master’s degree in Rural Management, Social Work, Development Studies, Gender Studies, Entrepreneurship, Management, or any relevant interdisciplinary field.
- 15+ years of experience in the development sector, including programme design, implementation, and stakeholder engagement.
- Minimum 5 years of experience leading women entrepreneurship, enterprise development, livelihood promotion, MSME, social enterprise, or women economic empowerment programmes.
- Strong experience working with women-led enterprises, SHGs, producer groups, micro-enterprises, and entrepreneurship ecosystems.
- Proven experience in managing large-scale CSR, NGO, government, or donor-funded programmes.
- Strong understanding of NRLM and State Rural Livelihood Missions (SRLMs); experience working with Maharashtra SRLM will be preferred.
- Proven experience in team management and cross-functional programme leadership.
