Job summary

Indus Action is seeking a Senior Lead Finance to provide strategic budgeting support and robust financial controls for our programs. The role collaborates with teams and volunteers to strengthen financial processes as the organization scales.

You will oversee accounts, ensure compliance, and drive timely reporting. The position requires postgraduate education with 10+ years in finance, preferably in the non-profit sector, and strong data-driven decision-making.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure timely and accurate books of accounts for bookkeeping, payments, auditing, and taxation.
  • Close books monthly/quarterly with correct accounting entries including provisions and depreciation.
  • Own vendor and employee payments ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Monitor payment approvals and banking procedures.
  • Review monthly bank reconciliations and report to line manager.

Position Summary-

We are looking for a Senior Lead Finance who will provide strategic support to program teams in preparing and managing annual budgets with adequate controls, effective monitoring, and reporting. Senior Lead will collaborate and work alongside our existing employees and volunteers in completing the assigned tasks.

Role and Responsibilities
  • Ensure the timeliness and accuracy of books of accounts for bookkeeping, payment, auditing, and taxation purposes.
  • Closing books of accounts on monthly/quarterly basis ensuring correctness of timely accounting of all relevant transactions, provisions, pre-paid, depreciation etc.
  • Should have complete ownership of all vendor and employee related payments and ensure accuracy and timeliness of all payments.
  • To monitor procedures in respect of checking and authorizing accounts for payment, as part of the finance team.
  • Review monthly bank reconciliation statements of all bank accounts and update the line manager on its timely compliance.
  • To receive and deal with financial queries and enquiries from departments or district offices.
  • To process Foreign Remittance. Coordinating with bankers for all payments.
  • To ensure effective FD management from a cash flow perspective.
  • Oversee administrative functions as well as facilities to ensure efficient and consistent operations as the organization scales.
  • Monitor year-end Statutory audit, Income tax Filing and periodic statutory & legal compliances
  • including FCRA returns
  • Leading conversations with Banks & Financial Institutions
  • Establish / improve SOPs, Finance policies, and systems to facilitate compliance and effective management of finance function.

Benefits

Compensation: The compensation will be based on the Indus Action‘s compensation benchmarking rubric. The range of compensation will be depending on the qualifications, experience and fit to the role.

The candidate would need to use his/her own laptop and the organization will bear the annual maintenance cost up to INR 12,000 per year as per actuals.
