Job summary

Purpleplum, a global fintech infrastructure company, is seeking a senior backend engineer to design, develop, and maintain scalable Java-based applications using Spring Boot. You will build RESTful APIs, microservices, and robust data models to support payment and financial services, collaborating with Product, QA, DevOps, and other teams.

The role requires 5-8 years of hands-on experience, strong knowledge of SQL databases, JPA/Hibernate, and modern CI/CD workflows.

Qualifications

• 5-8 years of professional software development experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with Java 8/11/17+.
• Strong knowledge of Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Data, and Spring Security.
• Strong experience developing REST APIs and microservices.
• Good understanding of Object-Oriented Programming, SOLID principles, and design patterns.
• Strong experience with SQL databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL.
• Experience with JPA/Hibernate.
• Good understanding of database design, indexing, transactions, and query optimization.
• Experience with Git and modern software development workflows.
• Strong understanding of unit testing using JUnit/Mockito.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments.
• Good understanding of application security and secure coding practices.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement scalable database solutions using relational and NoSQL databases.

• Participate in architecture and technical design discussions.
• Conduct code reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members.
• Troubleshoot production issues and perform root-cause analysis.
• Optimize application performance, scalability, and reliability.
• Work closely with Product, QA, DevOps, and other engineering teams to deliver features end-to-end.
• Develop automated unit and integration tests to ensure application quality.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes.
• Ensure applications follow security, data protection, and coding standards, particularly in a fintech environment.
• Mentor junior and mid-level developers and contribute to engineering best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain high-performance, scalable backend applications using Java and Spring Boot.
