Job summary

HSBC Software Development India is seeking a Senior Consultant Specialist to own end-to-end technical delivery of banking solutions on AWS with a focus on Lambda and serverless patterns.

You will shape designs across Java and Python services, automate workflows, and work with data stores like MongoDB and Redshift while upholding security-by-design and strong governance in a regulated environment.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering production-grade AWS solutions with Lambda.

Responsibilities

• Own technical delivery for one or more banking capabilities from design through build, test, release and production support.
• Shape solution designs across AWS Lambda, event-driven patterns, Java and Python services, workflow automation and data stores.
• Build and refine engineering guardrails including patterns, documentation and technical coaching.
• Strengthen backlog refinement by defining non-functionals, enablers, technical debt, resilience needs and operational tasks.
• Embed security-by-design across IAM least privilege, secrets handling, encryption, secure APIs, logging and audit trails.
• Establish operational resilience through SLAs and SLOs, monitoring and alerting, DR considerations and robust failure-handling patterns.
• Govern change and release practices to meet banking control expectations including approvals, evidence and traceability.
• Run incident response and root-cause analysis and ensure preventative actions are implemented and measurable.

As a Senior Consultant Specialist, you’ll take end-to-end technical ownership of banking solutions built on AWS, with a strong focus on serverless engineering using AWS Lambda. You’ll shape design decisions across Java and Python services, workflow automation and data platforms including MongoDB and Amazon Redshift. This role sits in a regulated environment where security-by-design, operational resilience and strong governance are core to how we deliver. You’ll set engineering standards that improve reliability and delivery outcomes while staying hands-on for complex builds and production issues when needed. You’ll work closely with product, architecture, cyber security, risk/compliance and operations to turn business outcomes into clear technical plans. Success looks like secure, resilient services released with strong operational readiness, improved delivery throughput and fewer recurring incidents.

In This Role, You Will

What we're looking for

• Bring deep, hands-on experience delivering production-grade solutions on AWS with strong emphasis on AWS Lambda and serverless patterns
• Demonstrate strong engineering capability in Java including service and API development, testing and performance tuning
• Demonstrate strong engineering capability in Python for service development, automation and data processing or scripting
• Apply proven experience designing workflow automation and business process orchestration using Appian or an equivalent platform
• Show strong MongoDB experience including data modelling, indexing, query optimisation and operational considerations
• Show strong Amazon Redshift experience including dimensional or analytic data modelling, SQL performance tuning, ingestion patterns and access controls
• Apply established CI/CD and automated testing practices with controlled releases suited to regulated environments
• Evidence strong production readiness practices including observability, runbooks, support handover and evidence-based delivery under governance
