Job summary

HNR Tech in Mumbai invites a Senior Java Engineer to join the development team behind our flagship POS product, in production since 2006.

You will work on Java backend and thin client UI, use SQL Server via JDBC, and integrate with suppliers, distributors, payment systems, and third‑party services while gradually retiring legacy code.

This is an independent contractor engagement, full‑time and paid weekly; strong English communication via video and email is required.

Qualifications

• Senior Java engineer with 8+ years of Java experience.
• Experience with SQL and JDBC workflows.
• Familiarity with API integrations and third‑party services.
• English communication via video and email.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain the Java POS backend and thin client UI.
• Build and extend connections to supplier/distributor partners, payment systems and third‑party services.
• Collaborate with US team, ensure performance and stability of backend components.
• Retire legacy code gradually while advancing new features.

• Git DevOps Feature development, performance, and stability of the Java POS backend.

• Disciplined retirement of legacy 8+ years coding experience in Java.
• Foundational experience with SQL.
• Strong understanding of Git DevOps workflows.
• Experience working on APIs / integrations.
• Ability to communicate well by video and email in English.

Working Hours

• Working hours are IST, but you must be available from 8:00 to 10:00 AM ET for collaboration with US team members.
