Job summary

Citi in Pune is seeking a competent backend engineer to develop and lead the OAFIN product processor. You will translate requirements into technical designs, mentor developers, and collaborate with global teams to deliver scalable solutions.

Required 3–6 years in Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, and database skills; familiar with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, and Agile practices. This role is based in Pune with opportunities across geographies.

Qualifications

• 3–6 years of backend Java experience.
• Design secure RESTful APIs with JSON and OpenAPI/Swagger.
• Proficient with Oracle or MSSQL and SQL.
• Hands-on with Docker, Kubernetes/OpenShift and CI/CD.
• Unix/Linux shell scripting (Bash) for automation.
• Strong observability and troubleshooting with Splunk/ELK/Prometheus/Grafana.
• Experience in Agile/Scrum within distributed teams.

Responsibilities

• Create project plans and keep PTS documentation up to date.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams and manage SIT with UAT handover.

• Explore existing systems to identify complexity and risks; propose improvements.

Job description

The role forms part of Product Processor Development Team in Pune and supports the OAFIN application which helps Product Control & Finance Department.

Oasys Financial (OAFIN) is a sub ledger application for OTC (over the counter) derivatives products and primarily supports finance clients in multiple countries globally.

Responsibilities

• Understanding Business Requirements and Functional Requirements provided by Business Analysts and to convert into Technical Design Documents and leading the development team to deliver on those requirements.
• Working with the Technical Team in Pune & US/UK supporting OAFIN in Product Processor Departments.
• Ensure projects Plans are created, and PTS documentation is up to date.
• Work closely with Cross Functional Teams e.g., Business Analysis, Product Assurance, Platforms and Infrastructure, Business Office, Controls and Production Support. Prepare handover documents, manage SIT with oversight of UAT.
• Identify and proactively resolve issues that could impact system performance, reliability, and usability.
• Demonstrates an in-depth understanding of how the development function integrates within overall business/technology to achieve objectives; requires a good understanding of the industry.
• Work proactively & independently to address development requirements and articulate challenges with enough lead time to address risks
• Ability to understand complex data problems, analyze and provide generic solutions compatible with existing Infrastructure.
• Design, Implement, Integrate, and test new features.
• Owns success – Takes responsibility for successful delivery of the solutions. Mentoring other developers on their implementation as needed, and organizing review activities like design review, code review and technical document review etc. to ensure successful delivery.
• Explore existing application systems determines areas of complexity, potential risks to successful implementation.
• Contribute to continual improvement by suggesting improvements to software architecture, software development process and new technologies etc.
• Ability to build relationships with business and technology stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Knowledge/Experience:
• Core Backend: 3 to 6 years of experience with Java 17/21, Spring Boot 3.x, JPA, and Hibernate.
• API Development: Strong experience designing secure RESTful APIs using JSON and OpenAPI/Swagger.
• Databases: Proficiency in Oracle/MSSQL, hands on SQL writing, and RDBMS concepts.
• Testing: Hands-on experience writing unit and integration tests using JUnit 5.
• Cloud & DevOps: Experience with Docker, Kubernetes/OpenShift, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Scripting: Good proficiency in UNIX/Linux Shell Scripting (Bash) for automation.
• Observability: Strong troubleshooting skills using Splunk, ELK, Prometheus, or Grafana.
• Methodology: Proven ability to work in Agile/Scrum environments within distributed global teams.

• Bachelor’s degree/University degree or equivalent experience
