Job summary

Gun Marine Services (GMS) is seeking a backend software engineer to design, develop, test, and deploy robust backend services and microservices using Java and Spring Boot. You will build RESTful APIs, collaborate with cross-functional teams, review code, and optimize performance, security, and scalability across the SDLC.

Experience with cloud deployments, data access layers, and documenting architectures is valued.

Responsibilities

• Develop, test, and deploy backend services and microservices architectures using Java and Spring Boot, ensuring robustness and scalability
• Collaborate with product managers, front-end developers, QA engineers, and stakeholders to refine requirements and deliver cohesive solutions
• Conduct code reviews, enforce coding standards, and optimize performance and security
• Diagnose and troubleshoot issues, improve existing codebases, and enhance user experience
• Document system designs, architectures, and development processes
• Participate in the full SDLC from planning to deployment and maintenance
• Mentor junior team members and promote continuous learning and improvement
• Stay updated with industry trends and tools to boost team efficiency and software quality
• Develop and enhance backend services, APIs, and data access layers
• Collaborate with senior engineers on cloud deployment best practices
• Contribute to real-time messaging and integration modules
• Leverage AI development assistants for code generation, documentation, and test automation
• Implement API analytics, monitoring, and reporting dashboards
• Analyze functional requirements from Product Owner/Client and develop error-free software
• Healthcare domain knowledge is a plus
• Advanced problem solving and strong design skills

• Develop, test, and deploy backend services and microservices architectures using Java and Spring Boot, ensuring robustness and scalability
• Design and implement clean, secure, and well-documented RESTful APIs facilitating seamless integration with front-end components and third-party systems
• Collaborate closely with product managers, front-end developers, QA engineers, and other stakeholders to define and refine requirements, ensuring a cohesive product delivery
• Conduct rigorous code reviews, enforcing coding standards, best practices, maintainability, and optimizing performance to uphold high-quality software outputs
• Diagnose and troubleshoot complex technical issues, optimizing existing codebases to enhance performance, security, and user experience
• Document system designs, architectures, and development processes
• Participate actively throughout the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) from planning through deployment and maintenance
• Mentor junior team members by sharing technical expertise and fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement
• Stay current with emerging industry trends, technologies, and best practices to recommend tools and processes that boost team efficiency and software quality
• Develop and enhance backend services, implement REST APIs and data access layers
• Work closely with senior engineers to adopt best practices in Cloud deployments
