Citi is hiring Senior Java Engineers to join our FX technology teams in Pune. You will contribute to building scalable, low-latency Prime Brokerage solutions across FX and equities, leveraging modern cloud-native architectures and CI/CD pipelines.

You will design architectures, work with end-users, and deliver high-quality production-grade software. The role requires hands-on Java/Spring expertise, strong SQL and messaging skills, and the ability to mentor juniors while aligning with Citi’s

Qualificações

• Master’s degree or above in a STEM discipline.
• Proven experience in software engineering and development.
• Hands-on Java and Spring development with low-latency focus.
• Strong FX domain understanding preferred.
• Experience with SQL databases and messaging systems like Kafka.
• Knowledge of caching technologies and modern cloud CI/CD practices.

Role Overview/What will you do:

• As a Senior Java Engineer, your mission is to help shape our team of innovators and technologists toward creating next-level solutions that improve the way our business is run.
• Hands on technical implementation of Prime Brokerage solutions across FX and Equities using modern, cloud-native technologies and CI/CD workflows, focusing on consolidation, automation, and scalability.
• Drive the design and development of system architecture, work with end-users of the systems, and enhance the quality of deliverables Ensure staff follows Citi documented policy and procedures as well as maintain desktop procedures and supporting documentation for filings on a current basis and in comprehensive manner
• The successful candidate will work with teams across FX Technology implement solutions that benefit the business
• Collaborate with stakeholders across FX Prime Brokerage trading , Quants and Product team to understand Payments needs, translate them into impactful data-driven solutions, and deliver these in partnership with technology.
• Design, Development, Testing of new features in the applications.
• Continual improvement of the software development lifecycle and quality of the product.
• 3rd line support of the production system (dedicated 24h support teams handle 1st / 2nd line).
• Mentoring junior members of the team.
• Contribute to defining and implementing best practices and processes for the department and ensure transparency and consistency across teams

Key Skills and Experience required –

• Master’s degree or above (or equivalent education) in a STEM discipline.
• Proven experience in software engineering and development, and a strong understanding of computer systems and how they operate.
• Hands on Experience in Java , Spring, Understanding of ultra-low-latency development practices.
• Proven understanding of FX highly preferred
• Well versed with AI coding tools like Devin , Claude code and Codex and delivered production grade applications.
• Proven track record of building new systems, replacing legacy systems and renovating existing systems
• Strong skill set in SQL / Databases
• Strong understanding of Messaging tech like Kafka, Solace , MQ etc.
• Writing production scale applications to use the Caching technologies.
• The candidate will have systems (software, hardware, networks) knowledge required to define solutions and trouble shoot issues
• Exceptional communicator who loves working with people, confident communicating at all levels from an individual team to the entire enterprise
• Highly credible hands on engineer, confident to deep dive into a product and codebase and offer detailed, constructive analysis and feedback
• Awareness of industry trends and leveraging new technologies as appropriate

Any Beneficial / Nice to have skills and experience:

• Understanding of Openshift , Kubernetes
• KDB knowledge
