Job summary

Citi is seeking a Senior FX Java Developer to join Citi FX Technology in India. The role involves strengthening the FX trade processing platform, modernising existing systems, and driving cloud-enabled automation to improve testing and deployment processes.

You will work with SMEs in FX Technology, applying expert Java development, code quality and architectural standards while coaching more junior team members across global teams.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of Java development experience.
• Experience with Spring Boot, Spring Security, and OAuth.
• Strong knowledge of clean code practices and test-driven development.
• Experience with Gradle or Maven build tools.
• Solid Linux/Unix skills.
• Experience with Jenkins or TeamCity.
• Knowledge of Kafka is an advantage.
• Knowledge of OpenShift is an advantage.
• Knowledge of Docker is an advantage.
• Observability tools such as Grafana and OpenTelemetry are beneficial.
• GenAI exposure is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Support the modernisation of the FX trade processing platform.
• Assist migration to the new strategic risk platform by building and integrating trade feed, reconciliation and control components.
• Assist and promote internal and external cloud solutions to enable automation testing and reduce manual environment management.
• Help reduce regression testing duration and enable parallel testing across projects.
• Focus on both new projects and maintaining legacy/older technology while enabling migration to strategic platforms.
• Champion best practices and coach junior developers and analysts within the FX technology team.
• Provide expert Java development guidance and ensure alignment with architecture blueprints.
• Develop standards for coding, testing, debugging and implementation.
• Analyze business and technical domains to propose innovative solutions.

Senior FX Java Developer

Citi FX Technology would like to hire a senior Java developer to work on strategic initiatives on our FX trade processing platform. The successful candidate will also support the improvement of our software development, build and deploy practices, and will champion the use of best practices across our global development teams.

Responsibilities

• Support the modernisation of our FX trade processing platform.
• Support the migration to our new strategic risk platform by building and integrating trade feed, reconciliation and control components.
• Support and help to adopt internal and external cloud solutions, to:
  • Enable improved automation testing and reduce the need for manual involvement in environment management.
  • Reduce the duration of the regression testing cycle and make it easier to test multiple projects in parallel.
  • The role will focus not only on new, greenfield projects, but will have a particular emphasis on established, older technology, supporting automation in order to facilitate the migration to strategic platforms.
• Champion best practice across our FX developer community and serve as a coach to more junior team members and analysts.
• Resolve a variety of high impact problems/projects through in-depth evaluation of complex business processes, system processes, and industry standards
• Provide expertise in area and advanced knowledge of Java development and ensure application design adheres to the overall architecture blueprint
• Utilize advanced knowledge of system flow and develop standards for coding, testing, debugging, and implementation
• Develop comprehensive knowledge of how areas of business, such as architecture and infrastructure, integrate to accomplish business goals
• Provide in-depth analysis with interpretive thinking to define issues and develop innovative solutions

Required Skills

• Thorough knowledge of clean code practices and test-driven development
• Experience working with build tools such as Gradle and Maven
• Solid Linux/Unix skills
• Experience of using one or more build platforms (Jenkins, TeamCity)
• Knowledge of Apache Kafka an advantage
• Knowledge of Openshift is an advantage
• Knowledge of Docker is an advantage
• Observability exposure (Grafana, Opentelemetry, etc.)
• Modern scaling, orchestration frameworks such as Conductor, Temporal is a plus.
• Experience and handson exposure to GenAI is sought for the role.
