Job Description for Java developer (Banking / Payments)
As a Java developer, you will develop, maintain, and enhance complex Java and J2EE applications to support the Open Payment Framework (OPF) and its related payment processing solutions.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain complex programs.
- Work with Business Analyst to understand business problems and rewrite them into fast and efficient solutions that ultimately help our customers.
- Design, code, debug, and maintain Java/J2EE application systems.
- Evaluate and identify new technologies for implementation.
- Perform peer code review and mentor junior team members.
Qualifications
- 6+ years of experience in J2EE technologies.
- Proficiency in Core Java (Collections, Concurrency/Multi-Threading, Localization, JDBC), J2EE, ANSI SQL, XML, Struts, Hibernate, Spring, EJB, JMS, unit and integration testing, and Linux.
- Good experience with database concepts (Oracle/DB2) and build tools such as Maven, Gradle.
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and microservices.
- Hands‑on experience with web technologies: Spring, Hibernate, JSP, HTML/DHTML, web services, JavaScript.
- Knowledge of at least one J2EE application server (WebSphere Application Server, WebLogic, JBoss).
- Sound knowledge of Git, SVN, Jenkins.
- Experience with JIRA or equivalent.
- Strong analytical, communication, and debugging skills.
- Familiarity with industry‑standard tools such as Eclipse, SOAP UI, Postman.
- Desirable skills: production support and maintenance experience, knowledge of FIS products and services, knowledge of the financial services industry, experience using AI tools such as Copilot or AI agents.
