Job summary

PROTECTT.AI Labs is building a next-gen transaction platform with sub-second latency. As Senior Manager, Product Engineering, you will architect mission-critical services, design scalable systems, and lead front-end experiences with reliability and security baked in from design onward.

You will partner with Product, Design, Security, and SRE to deliver secure, observable, cost-efficient features for millions of daily events.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in software engineering with strong Java and Spring depth.
• Experience designing high-availability, scalable cloud systems.
• Design-heavy transaction systems with DB and streaming services.
• Proven DR planning and recovery capabilities.
• Blue/Green and canary deployments are a plus.
• Ownership of high-throughput distributed systems in production.
• Strong API-first, microservices, caching and integrity patterns.
• Cloud-native design, AWS, containers/K8s, CI/CD, reliability.
• Security for web and APIs, IAM and data protection.
• BFSI/payments or cybersecurity background preferred.

Role & responsibilities

Position Overview:

Were building the next-gen, high-frequency transaction platform powering secure, real-time experiences at scale. As a Senior Manager, Product Engineering, you will architect, design, and build mission-critical services and front-end experiences, shaping product design, application architecture, and reliability for systems processing millions of daily events with sub-second latency. Youll partner with Product, Design, Security, and SRE to deliver features that are secure by design, observable, and cost-efficient.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Architecture & Product Design

• Own end-to-end architecture for high-throughput, low-latency services and user-facing apps; define APIs, data models, caching, partitioning/sharding, and event flows.
• Translate product requirements into architectural roadmaps and component designs (domain-driven design, microservices, API-first).
• Drive secure-by-default patterns (Zero-Trust, principle of least privilege) and privacy-first data design.

2. Full-Stack Engineering (Java-First)

• Build backend services in Java/Spring Boot; design REST/gRPC APIs, asynchronous pipelines, and distributed workflows.
• Contribute to front-end (React/Next or similar) and shared libraries; ensure cohesive UX with strong performance budgets and accessibility.
• Implement CI/CD pipelines and DevEx improvements (build speed, quality gates, developer tooling).

3. High-Frequency Transaction Systems

• Design for throughput, concurrency, and fault-tolerance (bulkheads, circuit breakers, idempotency, retry/backoff, message ordering).
• Performance tune JVM, thread pools, GC, connection pools; establish SLOs and p95/p99 latency targets.
• Introduce event streaming, queues, and exactly-once/at-least-once semantics where applicable.

4. Security & Compliance

• Champion IAM/CIAM/IGA patterns (OAuth2/OIDC, SAML), secrets management, KMS, and robust RBAC/ABAC.
• Partner with Security to embed threat modelling, secure coding, and automated security testing in the SDLC.

5. Reliability & Observability

• Define SLO/SLI/SLA, golden signals, and error budgets; implement tracing/metrics/logging dashboards (ELK/Grafana/OpenTelemetry).
• Lead incident reviews, root-cause analysis, and resilience tests (chaos, failover, DR).

6. Leadership & Collaboration

• Mentor senior engineers; review designs/PRs; raise engineering bar via patterns, documentation, and standards.
• Collaborate with Product on discovery, scoping, and MVP slicing; influence build-vs-buy and cost/perf trade-offs.

Preferred candidate profile

• 10+ years in software engineering with strong Java and Spring depth; proven full-stack delivery.
• Experience in designing/developing high availability and high scalability systems preferably on cloud.
• Experience in design heavy transaction management systems with both db and streaming services like Kafka and other cloud event hubs
• Experience in designing and executing DR planning and recovery.
• Experience in Blue/Green deployments and canary deployments is an added advantage.
• Demonstrated ownership designing high-throughput, low-latency distributed systems in production ( millions of requests/events/day).
• Hands-on experience with microservices, API-first architectures, caching strategies, and transaction integrity (idempotency, dedup).
• Solid grasp of cloud-native design (AWS preferred), containers/K8s, CI/CD, and infrastructure reliability.
• Strong understanding of security for web and APIs (authentication, authorization, secrets, data protection).
• Excellent system design skills and ability to influence architecture across teams.
• Background in BFSI, payments, or cybersecurity platforms preferred
