Job summary

Medtronic seeks an experienced Senior ETL Developer / Senior IT Technologist to design, develop, and maintain robust ETL processes extracting data from SAP and other sources into data warehouses.

The role emphasizes Informatica PowerCenter, Oracle backend maintenance, and driving the Databricks transition within a data platform modernization effort. Strong SAP knowledge, scheduling with Tivoli & Airflow, and data governance are essential.

Qualifications

• 7+ years IT experience with a bachelor’s degree in Engineering, MCA, or MSc.
• ETL Tools: Informatica PowerCenter (advanced)
• 4+ years experience in Snowflake and IICS.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize ETL workflows using Informatica PowerCenter to ingest data from SAP and other enterprise systems.
• Perform advanced data extraction from SAP modules such as APO, R/3, and GTS, ensuring high data quality and performance.
• Maintain and support ETL pipelines on Oracle backends, ensuring availability and minimal downtime.
• Drive the transition to Databricks, modernizing ETL pipelines and contributing to architecture evolution.
• Collaborate with stakeholders, data architects, and BI developers to define data requirements.
• Implement and monitor job scheduling using Tivoli and Airflow.
• Troubleshoot and optimize Unix shell scripts involved in data movement and orchestration.
• Ensure compliance with data governance, quality, and security policies.

A Day in the Life

We are seeking an experienced Senior ETL Developer / Senior IT Technologist with deep expertise in SAP data integration and transformation. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining robust ETL processes that extract, transform, and load data from SAP systems and other enterprise sources into data warehouses and reporting platforms. The current architecture is based on Informatica PowerCenter and Oracle, with a strategic transition underway toward a Databricks-based modern data platform.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

• Design, develop, and optimize ETL workflows using Informatica PowerCenter to ingest and process data from SAP and other enterprise systems.
• Perform advanced data extraction from SAP modules such as APO, R/3, and GTS, ensuring high data quality and performance.
• Maintain and support existing ETL pipelines running on Oracle backends, ensuring availability and minimal downtime.
• Drive and support the transition to Databricks, modernizing ETL pipelines and contributing to architecture evolution.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders, data architects, and BI developers to define data requirements and deliver scalable data solutions.
• Implement and monitor job scheduling using Tivoli and Airflow.
• Troubleshoot and optimize Unix shell scripts involved in data movement and job orchestration.
• Ensure compliance with data governance, quality, and security policies.

Required Knowledge and Experience:

• 7+ years of IT experience with a bachelor’s degree in Engineering, MCA, or MSc.
• ETL Tools: Informatica PowerCenter (advanced)
• 4+ years experience in snowflake and IICS.
• Databases: Oracle (strong SQL), basic understanding of Delta Lake (Databricks)
• Cloud/Data Platforms: Databricks (preferred or willingness to learn)
• SAP: Strong understanding of SAP APO, R/3, and GTS data structures
• Scheduling Tools: Tivoli Job Scheduler, Airflow
• Scripting: Basic Unix shell scripting
• Prior experience migrating ETL from legacy systems to cloud-based platforms (Databricks, Snowflake, etc.)
• Understanding of data warehouse design patterns.
• Experience with Agile/Scrum methodology.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
