A Day in the Life
As a Senior AI/Data Science Engineer, you will be a part of our DWAS – Data Engineering team responsible for designing, developing, deploying, monitoring, and supporting the Analytics & rebuild of legacy reports in data mart platform. In addition, you will be responsible for creating tools and automating operational tasks to integrate the data platform with external systems. This position will participate in production support rotation to ensure platform uptime.
Responsibilities
- Work independently under limited supervision
- Implement CI/CD patterns for deploying and administering the data platform
- Setup proactive monitoring and alerting
- Create automation to enable a self‑service model for developers
- Troubleshoot production issues
- Use platform metrics to provide guidance on right‑sizing infrastructure
- Work with IT and business partners to identify opportunities to improve existing processes
- Mentor and guide junior engineers
Required Knowledge and Experience
- 7–12 years of IT experience with Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering, software engineering, computer science, electrical engineering, or related technical field.
- Relevant Data Engineering Experience: Minimum 6 years, or advanced degree with 4 years.
- Ability to take business requirements and work independently to deliver solutions using industry best‑practice.
- Strong expertise in writing SQL queries.
- Ability to analyze, reverse‑engineer, and modernize logic/transformations of existing SQL stored procedures and reporting solutions into cloud‑native tech stack (Glue, Python, PySpark).
- Core Python experience (mandatory).
- Hands‑on experience on PySpark (can have prior experience of Big Data Technologies like HDFS, Hive).
- Minimum 1 year of experience in AWS and AWS native tools S3, Glue, Lambda, EMR, Athena, Step Functions.
- Hands‑on experience using job orchestration tools, preferably AWS Step Functions, Airflow/Oozie.
- Source control systems Git/GitHub experience.
- Strong problem‑solving skills.
- Experience automating routine tasks.
- Strong written and verbal communication & presentation skills.
- Strong security and data‑privacy mindset.
- Nice to have: Experience migrating legacy SQL, SSRS reports to modern tech stack with ETL/ELT transformations.
- Working experience in CI/CD process and tools like Azure DevOps.
- Working knowledge of IaC tools like Terraform.
- AWS certifications.
- Previous healthcare industry experience.
