Job summary

Customized Solutions Inc. is seeking an experienced Infrastructure Architect to lead the design and architecture for a data center and cloud carve-out project in Europe. The role focuses on compute, storage, backup, virtualization, and DR across Windows, Linux, and IBM AIX, with IBM Power hardware and Lenovo servers.

You will design cloud landing zones on AWS and/or Azure, define hybrid-cloud architectures, and ensure secure, scalable integration with the new environment.

Qualifications

• Experience leading carve-out, separation, divestiture, or data-center transformation projects.
• Hands-on architecture across compute, storage, backup, virtualization, cloud, and DR.
• Strong knowledge of Windows, Linux, and IBM AIX environments.
• Experience with IBM Power/IBM hardware, Lenovo servers, and enterprise storage.
• Experience with NetApp, IBM Flash, SAN, VMware, Commvault and/or Veeam.
• Strong AWS and/or Azure infrastructure experience with practical implementation.
• Proven ability to design AWS/Azure landing zones and hybrid-cloud architectures.
• Understanding of cloud networking, security, IAM, governance, and monitoring.

Job description

We are looking for an experienced Infrastructure Architect to lead the design and architecture of infrastructure for a major data center and cloud carve-out project. The project involves separating a business from its parent company and establishing a secure, isolated infrastructure environment in Europe.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect the compute, storage, backup, virtualization, cloud, and DR infrastructure for the new environment.
• Develop infrastructure designs, standards, architecture diagrams, landing zones, and implementation plans.
• Work across Windows, Linux, and IBM AIX environments.
• Design solutions involving Lenovo Intel servers and IBM Power infrastructure.
• Architect NetApp and IBM Flash storage, including SAN connectivity using IBM SAN switches.
• Design VMware virtualization, Commvault or Veeam, and tape-library solutions.
• Design and implement cloud landing zones on AWS and/or Microsoft Azure, including account/subscription structure, networking, security, identity, governance, logging, monitoring, and connectivity.
• Define hybrid-cloud architecture and integration between the new data center and cloud environments.
• Assess workloads and determine the appropriate on-premises, cloud, or hybrid deployment model as part of the carve-out.
• Provide hands‑on technical leadership during cloud infrastructure implementation, migration, and integration.
• Define and validate Disaster Recovery (DR) architecture and recovery requirements across on-premises and cloud environments.
• Collaborate with application, network, security, cloud, operations, and migration teams throughout the carve-out.
• Support technical decisions, implementation, migration, testing, and transition into operations.

Required Experience

• Strong infrastructure architecture experience, ideally in carve-out, separation, divestiture, or data‑center transformation projects.
• Hands‑on architecture experience across compute, storage, backup, virtualization, cloud, and DR.
• Strong knowledge of Windows, Linux, and IBM AIX.
• Experience with IBM Power/IBM hardware, Lenovo servers, and enterprise storage.
• Experience with NetApp, IBM Flash, SAN, VMware, Commvault and/or Veeam.
• Strong AWS and/or Azure infrastructure experience, with practical implementation experience—not architecture/design only.
• Proven experience designing and implementing AWS or Azure landing zones.
• Good understanding of cloud networking, security, IAM, governance, connectivity, compute, storage, monitoring, and backup.
• Experience implementing hybrid‑cloud architectures and integrating cloud environments with on‑premises data centers.
• Strong understanding of enterprise data‑center architecture, resilience, backup, and DR.
• Excellent stakeholder management and ability to translate business and technical requirements into practical architecture.

Nice to Have

• Experience delivering infrastructure carve‑outs in complex enterprise environments.
• Experience with AWS and/or Azure migration programs and large‑scale infrastructure transformation.
• Cloud certifications such as AWS Solutions Architect or Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect Expert.
• Experience working with geographically distributed teams and international stakeholders
