Job summary

Crrithyam Consultants Mumbai is seeking a Senior Hardware Engineer with 8–12 years of experience to lead system‑level and detailed electrical design for wearables, consumer electronics, and medical devices. You will work closely with world‑class engineers on novel products from concept to release.

The role involves cross‑functional leadership, prototyping, and ensuring regulatory compliance, with up to 15% travel. Prior experience shipping multiple products end‑to‑end is essential.

Qualifications

  • 8–12 years of full‑time work experience in electrical hardware development.
  • Experience shipping at least 3 products end‑to‑end, with one >10,000 units/year.
  • RF, high‑speed digital, power electronics, or related domains; multi‑layer boards (8+ layers).
  • Familiarity with high‑volume manufacturing, PPAP/FAI, and reliability testing.
  • Lab skills: micro-soldering (0201, QFN, BGA) and bench equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Design, analyze, and validate electrical hardware including integration with complex mechanical components, for low volumes through mass production.
  • Manage, mentor, and direct cross-disciplinary teams to conduct research, brainstorm, prototype, test, analyze, document, and present work to clients; and guide teams to win follow-on work.
  • Share insights on promising directions for new client opportunities, provide technical support for new business development, and devise and execute strategies to meet project and client goals.
  • Implement design changes to improve product reliability, reduce costs, and enhance performance, while ensuring compliance with regulatory and safety standards.
  • Prototyping, debugging, and analysis using standard lab equipment and techniques.
  • Perform schematic capture, PCB layout, DFM review, and FMEA for mass produced products using tools like Altium/KiCAD and LTspice.
  • Create and maintain thorough documentation of design changes, test results, and validation processes.
  • Support of manufacturing and supply chain, including developing partnerships with part manufacturers and CMs, selecting and managing external contractors, selecting and qualifying suppliers, developing functional tests, and guiding the design of automated electrical test platforms.

Clients often approach us with unique challenges that require a creative outlook and an adaptable skill set. Some products our founder has developed include Whoop 4, Whoop MG, Nuro self-driving car, and the Lumia earpiece. We are looking for a Senior Hardware Engineer with at least 8 to 12 years of experience. This is a client-facing role where the engineer will have the opportunity to collaborate with world-class engineers while developing novel products that may not exist in the world.

Job Description

You will be called upon to develop solutions at the system level as well as take on the detailed electronic design work required to realise your concept.

Roles and responsibilities for this role are:

Up to 15% travel domestically and internationally to partners, suppliers, and contract manufacturers.

What We Are Looking For
  • B.Tech (M.Tech is a plus) in electrical engineering and 8 to 12 years of full-time work experience developing complex, technical, and integrated products.
  • Experience shipping at least 3 products all the way from ideation to mass-production, with at least 1 product with volume higher than 10,000 units per year.
  • Comfort with schematic and PCB design for boards with RF, digital, and analog circuits with 8 layers or more.
  • Experience solving tough problems in at least three of the following areas: analog design, high-speed digital design, power electronics, wireless power transfer, RF design, antennas, motor control, and instrumentation. Mastery in a few is a plus.
  • Familiarity with high-volume manufacturing environments and process validation (FAI, PPAP, etc.) and understanding of reliability testing, HALT/HASS, and accelerated life testing.
  • Lab experience including micro-soldering (0201, QFN, BGA) and the use of multimeters, oscilloscopes, source-measure units, impedance analyzers, spectrum analyzers, and similar equipment.
  • Exposure to the full product lifecycle from concept generation through to product release/launch, and NPI.
  • Experience managing overseas vendors like components suppliers, CMs, OEM, JDMs.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and comfort with explaining complex engineering concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills, a willingness to get your hands dirty, and a big appetite for self-directed learning.
Desired but not required:
  • Experience in developing high-reliability consumer, medical, or wearable products at high volumes (over 100,000/year), preferably with integrated biomedical sensors like ECG, PPG, SpO, GSR, BIA, or similar.
  • Experience designing and shipping products with overseas supply chains.
  • Experience with test automation frameworks and prociency with Python, MATLAB, LabView or similar.
  • Background in hardware testing and debugging, including software interfaces.

Familiarity with regulatory testing processes for medical or consumer devices.
