Citi FX Technology is seeking a senior Java developer to work on strategic initiatives on our FX trade processing platform. You will contribute hands-on to integration, modernisation, cloud-enablement, and collaborate with SMEs across global teams.

The role requires strong Java, Springboot, and cloud experience, plus 10+ years of hands-on software development. You will champion best practices, code quality, and scalable solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
• 10+ years of hands-on software development experience.
• Strong Java development experience with Springboot and Spring Security.
• Experience with Gradle/Maven, Linux/Unix, and CI tools.
• Knowledge of Kafka, OpenShift, Docker is a plus.
• Familiarity with observability tools and GenAI is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Modernise the FX trade processing platform.
• Support migration to a new strategic risk platform by building/integrating trade feed, reconciliation and control components.
• Adopt internal and external cloud solutions to enable automation testing and reduce manual environment management.
• Improve regression testing efficiency and enable parallel testing across projects.
• Coach junior team members and analysts, promoting best practices across the FX developer community.
• Provide deep analysis to define issues and develop innovative solutions within the architecture blueprint.

Citi FX Technology would like to hire a senior Java developer to work on strategic initiatives on our FX trade processing platform. The successful candidate will also support the improvement of our software development, build and deploy practices, and will champion the use of best practices across our global development teams.

The successful candidate will be ready to dive into running projects and contribute, hands-on, to integration, modernisation, cloud-enablement, and working with SMEs in FX Technology to create practical standards of best practice.

Responsibilities:

• Support the modernisation of our FX trade processing platform.
• Support the migration to our new strategic risk platform by building and integrating trade feed, reconciliation and control components.
• Support and help to adopt internal and external cloud solutions, to:
• Enable improved automation testing and reduce the need for manual involvement in environment management.
• Reduce the duration of the regression testing cycle and make it easier to test multiple projects in parallel.
• The role will focus not only on new, greenfield projects, but will have a particular emphasis on established, older technology, supporting automation in order to facilitate the migration to strategic platforms.
• Champion best practice across our FX developer community and serve as a coach to more junior team members and analysts.
• Resolve a variety of high impact problems/projects through in-depth evaluation of complex business processes, system processes, and industry standards
• Provide expertise in area and advanced knowledge of Java development and ensure application design adheres to the overall architecture blueprint
• Utilize advanced knowledge of system flow and develop standards for coding, testing, debugging, and implementation
• Develop comprehensive knowledge of how areas of business, such as architecture and infrastructure, integrate to accomplish business goals
• Provide in-depth analysis with interpretive thinking to define issues and develop innovative solutions

Required Skills:

• Strong core Java experience
• Springboot, Spring Security, OAuth
• 10+ YOE is a mandate
• Thorough knowledge of clean code practices and test‑driven development
• Experience working with build tools such as Gradle and Maven
• Solid Linux/Unix skills
• Experience of using one or more build platforms (Jenkins, TeamCity)
• Knowledge of Apache Kafka an advantage
• Knowledge of Openshift is an advantage
• Knowledge of Docker is an advantage
• Observability exposure (Grafana, Opentelemetry, etc.)
• Modern scaling, orchestration frameworks such as Conductor, Temporal is a plus.
• Experience and handson exposure to GenAI is sought for the role.

Education:

• Bachelor's degree/University degree or equivalent experience
