Job summary

Kwalee is hiring a Senior Fullstack Developer for our Bangalore studio to build end-to-end fullstack features across Python/FastAPI backends and React frontends. You’ll deploy containerised microservices with Docker, work with AWS, and ship AI-powered capabilities by integrating OpenAI APIs.

The role emphasizes collaboration across time zones, mentorship, and delivering robust software in production. You’ll contribute to DevOps and infrastructure alongside engineers, while maintaining clean code

As we continue to grow, we are now looking for a Senior Fullstack Developer to join our AI & Technology team.

As a Senior Fullstack Developer, you will be responsible for building and shipping fullstack applications end to end. This role expands our senior depth to support our AI and Infrastructure work. You'll help fellow engineers get unblocked, lend a hand with DevOps and deployments, and deliver features across the stack that move the wider business forwards.

This is a permanent role based in our Bangalore studio, where our daily in‑office collaboration fuels creativity and innovation.

Responsibilities:

• Design, build, and ship complete features across Python/FastAPI backends and React frontends.
• Build and maintain asynchronous APIs in Python and FastAPI, backed by sensible database design and secure server‑side logic.
• Deploy and harden containerised microservices with Docker so they hold up in production.
• Build frontends using Next.js, Vite, and TypeScript, with Tailwind CSS, Shadcn, and TanStack (React Query) for state.
• Integrate third‑party AI services such as the OpenAI APIs into live web applications.
• Make effective use of agentic coding tools like GitHub Copilot in VS Code to work faster without cutting corners on quality.
• Track down architectural issues and performance bottlenecks across the stack and fix them.
• Write and maintain tests to keep the codebase reliable as it grows.
• Review other developers' code and give clear, constructive feedback.
• Keep technical documentation up to date so the team can find what they need.
• Write clean, maintainable code that others on the team can build on.
• Work with our AI Engineers to stand up and stabilise the infrastructure behind new tools in the PCC and Mobile space.
• Support the DevOps team, helping keep our AWS environments and deployment pipelines in good shape as demand grows.
• Mentor fellow developers and share what you know as the team grows.
• Pitch in within a flat team structure, unblocking others and keeping delivery moving.
• Weigh in on decisions about scalability and how our systems should grow, without carrying formal management responsibility.
• Report to the Head of Engineering all relevant matters that affect your job and work.
• Fully comply with the companies procedures, processes, strategies and tactics as may be issued from time to time.
• Ad‑hoc other tasks which may arise from time to time and be assigned to you by the business.

Requirements:

Fullstack Technical Expertise:

• At least 5 years building asynchronous APIs with Python and FastAPI.
• A solid grasp of database design, secure server‑side logic, and keeping data intact.
• Experience deploying and running containerised microservices with Docker in production.
• Familiarity with Cloud hosting, deployment, and cloud infrastructure, AWS desirable.
• Comfortable working with Git in a collaborative, review‑based workflow.
• Hands‑on with agentic coding tools such as GitHub Copilot in VS Code as part of your day‑to‑day workflow.
• Strong React skills, specifically Next.js, Vite, and TypeScript.
• Comfortable with Tailwind CSS and Shadcn, and managing state with TanStack (React Query).
• Hands‑on experience wiring third‑party AI services like the OpenAI APIs into live applications.

Ownership & Delivery:

• You can dig into architectural issues and performance bottlenecks and sort them out.
• You write tests and review others' code as a matter of habit, not an afterthought.
• You deliver steadily and to a good standard while working across time zones with the rest of the team.
• You've shipped features end to end across both Python and React, not just one side of the stack.

Mentorship and Cross‑Team Collaboration:

• You enjoy coaching other developers and levelling up the people around you, without needing to be their manager.
• You're happy to help out with DevOps and infrastructure alongside your own work.
• You can talk through trade‑offs on scalability and design clearly, with both engineers and leadership.
