Job summary

GlobalLogic in Chennai seeks a backend engineer with strong Python/FastAPI and React skills to build scalable data-driven applications. You’ll contribute to both backend and frontend, implement robust API designs, and optimize SQL queries for PostgreSQL and cloud-based data warehouses.

You will work on end-to-end feature ownership, testing with Playwright or Cypress, and performance-focused data layers, delivering reliable software in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Backend & Python expertise with production-grade async Python (3.10+) and concurrency fundamentals.
• FastAPI mastery: routing, DI, middleware, and performance tuning.
• API design including REST, authentication (OIDC/SSO/JWT), pagination, error handling.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain backend services in Python with async patterns.
• Develop frontend components using React, manage state with Zustand/Redux, and integrate with Node.js tooling.
• Design and optimize SQL queries; leverage PostgreSQL, Snowflake, or BigQuery; ensure reliable data access.

FastAPI: Deep knowledge of routing, dependency injection, middleware, and API performance tuning.

API Design: REST API architecture, authentication flows (OIDC/SSO/JWT), pagination, and error handling.

Frontend & UI/UX

React Ecosystem: Strong React hooks, state management (Zustand/Redux), Node.js, and modern tooling (Vite).

Data Visualization: Building polished, information-dense charts and UI components (Recharts, D3, or comparable).

Data Fetching: Experience with TanStack React Query or comparable tools.

SQL & Data Layer

Advanced SQL: Complex analytical queries (window functions, CTEs), execution plan diagnosis, and performance tuning.

Databases: Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL (Citus is a plus) and GCP/BigQuery.

Distributed Engines: Snowflake, Databricks

Delivery & Engineering Practices

End-to-End Ownership: High autonomy to design, build, test, and deploy features independently.

Testing Rigor: E2E/visual verification using Playwright, Cypress, or similar tools.

Caching: Performance engineering using Redis to ensure sub-second response times under load.
