Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field.
• 5+ years in software development in financial services or fintech, designing enterprise systems for large-scale data processing.
• Frontend development with Angular or React JS and core principles.
• Relational and NoSQL databases, in‑memory databases, and modern data tooling.
• Proficient in cloud environments (Azure, AWS, GCP).
• Container tech including Terraform, Docker and Kubernetes.
• Strong engineering practices: CI/CD, design patterns, security, performance.

Responsibilities

Your Impact

You will work in our Client Capability Network within Panorama Financial Institutions Center (PFIC) with responsibilities that range from developing and implementing our core enterprise products to ensuring that McKinsey’s craft stays on the leading edge of technology.

You will be involved in leading software development projects in a hands-on manner. You will spend about 70% of your time writing and reviewing code and creating software designs. You will spend the remaining time on database design, core middle tier modules, performance tuning, containerized applications, cloud technologies, DevOps and continuous delivery domains over time.

You will be an active learner, tinkering with new open‑source libraries, using unfamiliar technologies without supervision and learning frameworks and approaches. You will have a strong understanding of key agile engineering practices to guide teams on improvement opportunities in their engineering practices. You will provide ongoing coaching and mentoring to the developers to improve our organizational capability.

You will be based in our Gurgaon office as part of the PFIC team. PFIC is one of the largest Knowledge and Expert consulting capabilities globally and part of the FIG practice, with 230+ members and a global footprint across 20+ locations in APAC, Americas and Europe, focusing on financial services domains, e.g., Retail banking, Corporate & Investment Banking, Wealth & Asset Management and Insurance.

Your Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field
• 5+ years in software development in the context of financial services (banking/insurance) or fintech/insurtech, particularly in designing and implementing complex enterprise systems that handle large-scale data processing, and in‑depth skills with Python, Asynchronous Microservices
• Experience in frontend development with a good understanding of Angular or React JS and its core principles
• Demonstrable experience with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL), NoSQL databases (e.g., Mongo, Cosmos and Elastic search), and in‑memory databases (e.g., Redis)
• Proficient in cloud infrastructure, with a strong preference for experience in Azure, GCP, and AWS environments
• Skilled in the use of container technologies including Terraform, Docker and Kubernetes,
• Proficient in modern engineering practices including code refactoring, application of design patterns, design‑driven development, continuous integration, scalability of applications, and application security
• Familiar with the Agile software development methodology and proficient with performance optimization and application profiler tools
• Strong understanding of Banking and/or Insurance domains, with ability to identify and shape technology‑enabled transformation opportunities across areas such as underwriting, claims, risk, fraud, and customer journeys
• Strong interest in GenAI‑driven transformations, including understanding of risks, governance, and best practices in financial services context
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills, with a proven track record of developing innovative and efficient solutions
• Capable of working effectively under pressure and managing client expectations.
