Job description

We are looking for experienced Full Stack Engineers with Android and backend expertise in Go or Java to work on large-scale systems. The role will be part of the Subscriptions and Payments engineering team and will contribute to building and enhancing Fire TV In-App Purchase (IAP) capabilities, subscription journeys, payment integrations and entitlement workflows. You will work across Android/Fire TV applications and backend services, building highly scalable and reliable systems capable of supporting millions of users and significant traffic spikes during major live events.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain Android / Fire TV applications and supporting backend services
• Build Android features using Kotlin/Java with a focus on performance, reliability and user experience
• Develop scalable backend services using Go or Java
• Build and integrate APIs supporting subscriptions, payments and entitlement workflows
• Implement Fire TV In-App Purchase (IAP) flows including purchases, renewals, cancellations and entitlement synchronization
• Integrate applications with app-store APIs, payment platforms and internal backend services
• Build resilient workflows capable of handling failures, retries and transaction reconciliation
• Design systems to support high concurrency and large traffic spikes, particularly during live sports and major content releases
• Optimize application startup, API latency, network usage and overall performance
• Work on authentication, device management and user-session flows where required
• Implement monitoring, logging and observability across mobile/TV and backend systems
• Write maintainable, well-tested production code
• Participate in architecture discussions, code reviews and technical design reviews
• Collaborate with Android, backend, platform, payments and product teams to deliver features end-to-end

Requirements

• Strong Android development experience using Kotlin and/or Java
• Good understanding of Android application architecture, lifecycle and performance optimization
• Experience developing applications for Android TV or Fire TV is highly desirable
• Strong backend development experience using Go or Java
• Experience with Spring Boot for Java backend development or common Go web/service frameworks
• Strong experience designing and consuming REST APIs
• Good understanding of microservices and distributed systems
• Experience with SQL databases such as PostgreSQL/MySQL
• Experience with NoSQL databases is desirable
• Experience with caching technologies such as Redis
• Exposure to Kafka or similar messaging/event-streaming technologies
• Understanding of asynchronous processing, concurrency and distributed transactions
• Experience with AWS or similar cloud platforms
• Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes and CI/CD pipelines
• Strong debugging and production troubleshooting skills

Experience

• 4-7 years of software engineering experience
• Strong hands-on Android development experience
• Hands-on experience with backend development using Go or Java
• Ability to independently own and deliver features across application and backend layers
• Experience working on scalable production applications

Note: This is a 6-month contractual role.
