Responsibilities
  • Delivery Excellence: Ensure on-time delivery of all commitments through proactive risk management, cross-functional alignment, and effective planning. Drive + milestone achievement with clear burndown visibility and predictable execution.
  • Quality Leadership: Embed quality throughout the SDLC code standards, automated testing, documentation, CI/CD pipelines, and reliability SLOs. Champion technical excellence across frontend, backend, data platforms, and comprehensive testing frameworks.
  • Team Performance Management: Set clear goals and metrics for individual and team performance. Coach for impact and growth. Where coaching doesn’t yield improvement, take decisive action to part ways respectfully and efficiently, ensuring overall team health and productivity.
  • Global Alignment and Communication: Act as the single throat-to-choke between the India site and global leadership. Provide daily transparency on progress, risks, and resource needs. Ensure engineering decisions align with corporate architecture, security, and release standards.
  • Technical Strategy Innovation: Translate product strategy into site-level technical roadmaps. Foster prototyping, PoCs, and adoption of AI/ML, DevSecOps automation, and cost-efficient cloud patterns across all engineering disciplines.
  • Metrics-Driven Improvement: Define KPIs for velocity, quality, cost per feature, platform performance, and employee health. Use data to identify systemic blockers, lead retrospectives, and institutionalize best practices across all engineering teams.
  • Executive Customer Interface: Host executive visits, customer audits, and critical escalations. Deliver crisp, data-backed updates that position India as a center of excellence rather than a cost center.
Success Metrics (First 2-3 Months)
  • Team Building: Three data/search engineers hired quickly; full-stack, Java, and QA pipelines established; improved offer acceptance and retention rates.
  • Delivery Predictability: 90%+ milestone adherence; measurable cycle-time improvements; clear risk/issue management processes.
  • Technical Excellence: Agreed test coverage and reliability SLOs met; CI/CD and quality gates operational; platform performance targets achieved.
  • Operational Readiness: Documented DR/BCP plans; incident drills executed; 247 support model operational; clean audit outcomes.
  • Compliance and Security: Zero critical audit findings; established processes for DPDP Act, export controls, and customer security frameworks.
Requirements
  • 8+ years software engineering experience with 4+ years managing multi- disciplinary teams (20+ engineers).
  • Proven success scaling high-performing teams in fast-paced startup environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to hire and retain top talent across all engineering disciplines with a focus on diversity, skill alignment, and cultural fit.
Technical Acumen and Hiring Expertise
  • Strong technical background with sufficient depth to effectively evaluate, recruit, and mentor engineers across all disciplines. While hands-on expertise in every technology is not required, you must understand enough about each area to make sound technical decisions and guide teams in:
  • Data engineering and search platforms (OpenSearch/Elasticsearch, Python ETL).
  • Java backend services (Spring Boot, microservices, APIs).
  • Full-stack and frontend development (modern JavaScript frameworks, UI/UX).
  • Quality assurance and automated testing (CI/CD integration, performance testing).
Cloud and Infrastructure Expertise
  • Deep expertise in AWS and GCP cloud services.
  • Strong background in modern SDLC practices: Agile at scale, CI/CD, automated testing, observability, SRE.
  • Experience with containerization, microservices architecture, and scalable system design.
  • Knowledge of AI/ML integration, DevSecOps automation, and cost optimization.
