Job summary

First Solar India Limited is seeking a Technician- Engineering Maintenance III IND to support installation, qualification and troubleshooting of manufacturing equipment. You will work to improve throughput, yield and product performance.

The role covers preventive, predictive and repair maintenance on electrical systems, motors, vacuum pumps, conveyors and robots. You will collaborate with area engineers, update shift reports, reduce alarms and train production staff.

Qualifications

  • Industrial automation experience in pickup/placement, lamination or related processes.
  • Experience in large multinational corporations preferred.
  • Familiarity with FMEA and SPC is advantageous.
  • Education in a technical discipline with relevant manufacturing experience.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive, predictive and repair maintenance on manufacturing tools (electrical, mechanical, vacuum, conveyors, robots).
  • Ensure PM plans and CMMS work orders are executed timely and per requirements.
  • Collaborate with area engineers and supervisors on MA and OE initiatives.
  • Troubleshoot day-to-day production equipment and process issues to meet output/yield targets.
  • Update shift reports on tool performance, downtime, KPI actions.
  • Reduce alarm rate to improve machine availability and efficiency.
  • Identify opportunities to improve yield and productivity; support improvement projects.
  • Set up and maintain measuring instruments; ensure processes follow the control plan.
  • Respond to SPC alarms and keep processes in control; train production associates.
  • Develop SOPs and process documentation; interface with internal and supplier teams.

Technician- Engineering Maintenance III IND

Overview

Basic Job Functions: Assist in the installation and qualification of manufacturing equipment, troubleshoot day-to-day manufacturing issues, identify improvement projects to support throughput, yield and product performance goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform preventive, predictive and repair maintenance activities for all manufacturing production tools such as electrical systems, motors, vacuum pumps, conveyors, robots and material handling machines.
  • Ensure assigned PM job plans and work orders from the CMMS system are carried out timely and comply with PM requirements.
  • Work closely with area engineers and supervisors to support MA and OE initiatives.
  • Solve day‑to‑day production equipment and process problems to achieve daily output and yield.
  • Update shift report on tool performance including safety, quality, output, planned/unplanned downtime summary, KPI/KPO requirement and actions taken.
  • Reduce alarm rate to improve machine availability and operational efficiency.
  • Identify opportunities to improve yield and productivity.
  • Set up and maintain all measuring instruments.
  • Ensure all processes run on target as defined in the control plan.
  • Respond to SPC alarms and bring the process back to control limits.
  • Initiate and support improvement projects for cost saving and productivity.
  • Provide training to production associates.
  • Develop and update internal documentation including drawings, standard operating procedures, and process specifications.
  • Interface with internal associates and supplier representatives, as required, to complete assigned projects.
  • Maintain strong communication skills with production associates and manufacturing engineers.
  • Manage disposition of non‑conforming products (NCP).
  • Adhere to all LOTO procedures and keep tools and safety features in tip‑top condition.
  • Ensure waste materials are discarded in designated containers; hazardous waste containers are always closed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Experience and Education

Industrial experience in automation, pick‑and‑place machine, assembly line, lamination process, roll coating, or high‑pressure dispensing equipment is preferable. Prior work experience in large multinational corporations is required. Familiarity with FMEA and SPC is an added advantage. Education: Technical discipline in mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, mechatronics, chemical, materials science, or applied physics.High school diploma or equivalent with one year experience as a First Solar Manufacturing Engineering TechnicianII, or eight years of technical experience in a manufacturing setting, or a bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline with one year experience as a First Solar Manufacturing Engineering TechnicianII, or a bachelor or college degree in a technical discipline with three years of technical experience in a manufacturing setting.

  • Strong data analytical skills (JMP, Six Sigma or SPC).
  • Good presentation skills.
  • TOC concept, MTTR & MTBF analysis.
Travel and Physical Requirements

Travel: Domestic and international travel as required. Physical requirements: Will sit, stand or walk short distances for the entire shift; climb stairs occasionally; exert up to 23kg of force to lift, push or pull seldom; exert up to 13kg frequently; use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry or feel objects repetitively; 20/40 vision in each eye, with or without correction; comply with all safety standards and procedures; reach above shoulder heights and below the waist frequently; stoop, kneel or bend occasionally; wear personal protective equipment (steel‑toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, protective jacket or apron and arm guards); may be required to wear a respirator at any time (requires little or no facial hair).
