Responsibilities
- Assist in the installation and qualification of manufacturing equipment.
- Troubleshoot day-to-day manufacturing process and equipment issues.
- Perform, as directed, all necessary maintenance and repair of the equipment in a timely and cost-efficient manner.
- Identify and/or implement system improvements that contribute to the achievement of throughput, yield and product performance goals.
- Participate in the training/upskilling of production associates and technicians.
- Able to troubleshoot and solve equipment issues on the manufacturing line.
- Able to troubleshoot and solve process issues on the manufacturing line.
- Act as on-site service and repair technician, responding to SPC process control alarms and bringing processes back into control.
- Collect and analyze data from daily tool performance and associated product performance, executing planned process experiments and reporting experimental results.
- Transition new equipment and processes through start-up, qualification, and implementation, providing training to production associates.
- Develop and update internal documentation including drawings, SOPs, and process specifications.
- Interface with internal associates and supplier representatives to complete assigned projects.
- Adhere to all safety procedures, good housekeeping standards, and hazardous waste handling requirements.
- Complete First Solar EMT 1 training program and maintain effective communication with the manufacturing team.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Associate degree in a technical discipline or two or more years of machine/mechanic experience as a primary job function or one year First Solar technical experience.
- Six months experience as Associate EMT at First Solar with rating of “5” or higher in all relevant EMT proficiency categories.
- Safety first mindset.
- Verifiable electrical/electronic and mechanical knowledge.
- Verifiable hands-on troubleshooting/repair skills.
- Self-directed, able to work with minimal supervision.
- Good written and oral communications skills in English.
- Working knowledge of common Windows computer applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Ability to identify recurring issues and develop/communicate improvement recommendations.
- Ability to troubleshoot and solve equipment and process issues on the manufacturing line.
- Ability to deal with administrative as well as technical tasks.
- Ability to set up and maintain gauges.
- Ensure all processes are running on target as defined by the Process Control Plan.
- Respond to process control alarms and restore process control.
- Help develop legacy knowledge of area processes, equipment, and support systems.
- Commit to safety, environmental, health and quality programs and compliance obligations.
Reporting Relationships
- This position will not have direct reports.
Travel
- Travel for initial onboarding training in other FS manufacturing facilities may be required.
- Little to no travel required (<5%) after initial training period.

- Must be able to comply with all safety standards and procedures.
- May reach above shoulder heights and below the waist on a frequent basis.
- May stoop, kneel, or bend, on an occasional basis.
- Ability to wear personal protective equipment is required (including but not limited to, steel toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, protective jacket or apron and arm guards).
- All associates working on the production floor may be required to wear a respirator at any given time and thus, the ability to wear a respirator is a condition of employment and continued employment (requires little or no facial hair).
