Job summary

Kent is seeking a Senior Engineer - Electrical to lead HVDC design and electrical project delivery in Mumbai, India. You will work with cross-functional teams to develop converter stations, DC transmission lines, and AC substations, while ensuring compliance with international standards and project schedules.

Ideal candidates have 8–15 years of HVDC experience, EPC/utility/OEM exposure, and a strong background in power system studies, layout design, and QA/QC practices.

Qualifications

• HVDC design experience and responsible for engineering & design of HVDC transmission systems (converter stations, DC lines/cables, substations).
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and support during project execution.
• Bachelor's or master's degree in electrical engineering required.

The intent of this provision is to allow for flexibility and adaptability in meeting the dynamic needs of the organization, ensuring that operational requirements can be met efficiently. All such tasks will be assigned considering the employees current workload and with respect to their professional development.

Qualification/ Certification:

• The HVDC Design Engineer is responsible for the engineering and design of High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) transmission systems, including converter stations, DC transmission lines/cables, and associated AC substations. The role involves preparation of design deliverables, coordination with multidisciplinary teams, and support during project execution.
• Bachelors or masters degree in electrical engineering.

Experience:

• 08-15 years of basic and detail engineering experience in HVDC converter stations preferred
• Experience with EPC / utility / OEM environment advantageous.

Knowledge:

• Prepare/Review design basis for the project as per the client design criteria.
• Review / provide guidance for preparation of all discipline engineering and design deliverables such as slds, specifications, datasheets, BOM, Panel and Cable schedule, 3D model, interconnection wiring drawings etc.
• Review and checking of Area classification drawings.
• Review calculations for all Electrical Equipment like Power transformers, DGs, Battery Sizing, Capacitor sizing, Grounding and Lightening protection. Cable sizing etc.
• Decide the substation layouts optimizing the size and design of the same along with the design team.
• Provide guidance for preparation of all layout drawings ,3D models and mto generation
• Prepare / provide guidance for preparation of power control and distribution philosophy for electrical system.
• Review installation drawings.
• Preparation or Review of Requisitions for quotation and for purchase
• Review vendor documents and quotations for compliance with project requirements.
• Participate in project design reviews.
• Prepare with cost/resource estimates, bid evaluations and project proposals.
• Perform inter-discipline squad checks.
• General guidance to designers for deciding the cable tray /trench routing and review 3D models.
• Attend model reviews as per project schedule.
• Shop inspections and Electrical Equipment FAT/SAT
• Site surveys and adequacy checks if required.
• Attend risk management meetings as required.
• Perform technical audits and quality reviews.
• Site pre-commissioning activities and engineering support as required as per project scope of work.
• Work out the MFL for the project as per the project schedule and inform HOD well in advance if any additional resource requirements.
