Job summary

V-Guard in India seeks a Product Design Engineer to lead development of electric water heaters and related components. You will drive 3D/2D CAD design, validation, and end-to-end NPD activities across tanks, sheet metal, and plastics.

You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams, manage DFMEA/RCA activities, and support cost optimization through Value Engineering and Kaizen, while coordinating with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of projects.

Qualifications

• Proficient in 3D modelling and 2D drafting, basic FEA understanding.
• Good understanding of NPD process & stage-gate methodology
• Project management & vendor coordination.
• Strong in change management process and execution.
• DFMEA, RCA, Why-Why, Fishbone analysis.
• Compliance standards (Safety, BIS, BEE) understanding
• Coordinate with CFT team for multiple projects at same time
• Ready to travel and take responsibility and self-organising
• Support Project managers in achieving the targets

Responsibilities

• Design and development of Tanks (pressure vessels), sheet metal and plastic parts.
• 3D & 2D CAD model development/validation and basic FEA.
• Lead the product design and development of Electric Water Heaters.
• End-to-end involvement in New Product Development including feasibility studies, prototyping, validation, and production release.
• Work with VAVE Projects and standardization of Parts and drive the change management plan.
• Prepare and execute Design Failure Mode & Effects Analysis to identify and mitigate potential risks in product design.
• Use tools like Why-Why Analysis and Fishbone diagrams for RCA of field complaints.
• Lead and collaborate with cross-functional teams (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial design, Manufacturing and SCM) to ensure timely delivery of projects.
• Work with OEM/ODM suppliers, handle RFQ/RFP processes, and review supplier designs.
• Execute Value Engineering and Kaizen initiatives for cost optimization.
