Job summary

Jobtailor in Tamil Nadu is seeking a process engineer to create, validate, and optimize glass nesting programs and tooling for core manufacturing activities. You will work with CAD tools to design jigs, fixtures, and related aids, and coordinate with suppliers and internal teams.

The role requires a degree in mechanical or manufacturing engineering and 3-7 years in process engineering or tooling development, preferably in composite or blade manufacturing.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field.
  • 3-7 years of experience in process engineering, CAD design, tooling development, or manufacturing engineering.
  • Experience in composite manufacturing, blade manufacturing, wind industry, or related manufacturing environments is preferred.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, CATIA, Nesting Software, and LAP Laser Systems.

  • Create, validate, and optimize glass nesting programs to improve material utilization and manufacturing efficiency.

  • Design, develop, and detail tools, jigs, fixtures, and manufacturing aids with the tooling team.

  • Coordinate with global tooling teams and suppliers on tooling development projects.
  • Validate new tools, jigs, and fixtures before handover to Production, Maintenance, Quality, and Safety teams.
  • Provide technical support and clarifications to suppliers.
  • Drive continuous improvement targeting cycle time, waste reduction, and efficiency.

Job description

  • Create, validate, and optimize glass nesting programs to improve material utilization, product quality, and manufacturing efficiency while reducing waste
  • Prepare carbon plank nesting layouts for prefabrication activities
  • Design, develop, and detail tools, jigs, fixtures, and manufacturing aids with the tooling team
  • Generate and maintain inspection templates for components, moulds, and tooling
  • Coordinate with global tooling teams and suppliers on tooling development projects
  • Define tooling requirements based on production and process needs
  • Validate new tools, jigs, and fixtures before handover to Production, Maintenance, Quality, and Safety teams
  • Participate in technical discussions and coordinate new tooling trials
  • Provide technical support and clarifications to suppliers
  • Prepare technical write-ups for customs clearance of tooling-related materials in support of SCM
  • Drive continuous improvement targeting cycle time, man-hours, waste, material consumption, power usage, water consumption, and manufacturing efficiency
  • Conduct material trials and process evaluations to identify cost‑saving opportunities
  • Introduce new technologies, tools, and process improvements with the Process Senior Manager
  • Support production teams and ensure compliance with defined manufacturing processes
  • Monitor and validate LAP Laser processes in the main shell manufacturing area
  • Participate in daily shop floor review meetings and resolve issues with engineering support
  • Conduct process audits and identify improvement opportunities
  • Ensure adherence to safety, quality, and operational standards
  • Provide technical training and skill development programs to production personnel on layup and related processes
  • Conduct change management awareness sessions and training programs
  • Update Work Instructions, process documents, and standards following approved engineering changes
  • Support knowledge transfer and process standardization across production areas
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field
  • 3-7 years of experience in process engineering, CAD design, tooling development, or manufacturing engineering
  • Experience in composite manufacturing, blade manufacturing, wind industry, or related manufacturing environments is preferred
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, CATIA, Nesting Software, and LAP Laser Systems
  • Knowledge of tooling design, jig and fixture development
  • Understanding of composite manufacturing processes and layup operations
  • Experience in process optimization, continuous improvement, and waste reduction initiatives
  • Familiarity with quality systems, process audits, and change management
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies is an advantage
