Job summary

Eaton India is seeking a senior power electronics engineer to design, simulate, develop, and validate high-power converters and inverters. You will manage end-to-end hardware development, from schematics to verification, aligning with customer requirements and safety standards.

Responsibilities include circuit simulations, validation testing, and integration into larger electrical systems, with emphasis on reliability, cost, and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronics Power Electronics with relevant experience.
  • Master's Degree in Power Electronics and Drives Engineering preferred; 5–7 years experience.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop high-power power electronic systems (DC-DC, AC-DC, inverters).
  • Simulate and analyze circuits using PSpice, LTSpice, MATLAB/Simulink, and PLECS.
  • Develop hardware prototypes, perform verification and qualification testing, and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Lead electrical system integration, document results, and drive reliability improvements.

What You’ll Do

The primary responsibility of this role is to design, simulate, develop, and validate high-power power electronic systems, including DC-DC converters, AC-DC converters, and inverters. The role involves end-to-end hardware development, circuit design and analysis, product verification, standards compliance, and integration of power electronic solutions into larger electrical systems while meeting customer performance, cost, reliability, and regulatory requirements.

What You’ll Do

The primary responsibility of this role is to design, simulate, develop, and validate high-power power electronic systems, including DC-DC converters, AC-DC converters, and inverters. The role involves end-to-end hardware development, circuit design and analysis, product verification, standards compliance, and integration of power electronic solutions into larger electrical systems while meeting customer performance, cost, reliability, and regulatory requirements.

Core Design & Development

Design and develop high-power power electronic systems, including converters and inverters. Design AC-DC, DC-DC, and inverter topologies for various applications. Select and evaluate power semiconductor devices, gate drivers, modulation techniques, and output filters. Design high-frequency magnetic components such as transformers and inductors. Prepare detailed electrical schematics using computer-aided design and simulation tools.

Simulation & Analysis

Perform circuit simulations using tools such as PSpice, LTSpice, MATLAB/Simulink, PLECS, or equivalent. Conduct steady-state and transient analysis of power electronic circuits. Analyze analog and digital circuits for functionality and performance. Perform worst-case analysis, tolerance analysis, stress analysis, derating studies, and Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA).

Hardware Development & Testing

Execute the complete hardware development lifecycle from requirements through qualification and certification. Develop, build, debug, and test power electronic hardware prototypes. Perform verification, validation, and qualification testing. Conduct root cause analysis, failure investigations, and corrective action implementation to improve product reliability. System Integration. Integrate power electronic subsystems into larger electrical and electronic systems. Ensure system compatibility, performance, reliability, and safe operation. Support product lifecycle activities through development, testing, and release phases.

Compliance & Standards

Support compliance with relevant industry standards and certification requirements. Apply knowledge of IEC, IEEE, CISPR, ISO, SAE, EMC, and EMI requirements during product development. Support certification, qualification, and regulatory approval activities. Project Execution Plan, organize, and execute assigned technical activities. Lead small technical projects and coordinate development tasks. Track progress and ensure timely completion of deliverables.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Power Electronics Engineering, or related field with 7-10 years experience.

Master's Degree in Power Electronics and Drives Engineering with 5-7 years experiene.
