JOB TITLE: SENIOR ENGINEER - PIPING

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Supervise and lead a team of engineers and designers in carrying out detailed engineering work for large & medium sized projects.
  2. Review of ITT, identification of scope and technical requirements.
  3. Identify areas of concern and risk and direct the Teams to develop Risk Register.
  4. Monitor and control project man-hour requirements during project execution. Identify variation between contract and proposal.
  5. Critically review the sizing and design requirements, and identify areas of optimization and potential cost savings.
  6. Review and moderate as required, piping cost and man-hour estimate.
  7. Perform Contract Review exercises and identify inconsistencies related to scope of work and supply, HSE and technical requirements.
  8. Verify and conceptualize the most optimum work route. Identify a clear scope of work/supply and accordingly plan/schedule the engineering activities and manpower resource.
  9. Identify and quantify total number of engineering deliverables, man-hour allocation, format of delivery, time schedules and other requirements for execution of the work.
  10. Coordinate with projects and planning on project time schedules, establish target completion dates, ensure target dates are achieved.
  11. Develop Manpower charts and schedules, recommend, assign, and distribute manpower for the execution of engineering activities within budgeted project man-hours. Recommend cost effective measures to reduce overall manpower costs.
  12. Review and identify design inputs from other discipline documents such as environmental regulations, hazardous area classifications, process design basis, project specifications, process data sheets, P&IDs, control system block diagram, Mechanical data sheets.
  13. Lead a team of Piping Engineers and designers in all respects, support & guide the team to ensure design integrity in Projects and Proposals.
  14. Critically review and check all project deliverables such as Plot plan, Nozzle orientation, Civil inputs, PMS, Valve & Special data sheets, MR & TBE.
  15. Coordinate and participate in various internal & client Model reviews.
  16. Interface and regularly meet with client and vendor representatives, conduct internal staff meetings, ensure the progress of project in accordance with schedule, allotted man hours and budgeted costs. Coordinate with projects and planning departments on schedule related issues.
  17. Review & monitor IDC & Vendor document reviews.
  18. Monitor and ensure the Team focus on coordinating and managing technical interfaces amongst various disciplines and adequately capture changes as work progresses.
  19. Direct and monitor Material Take Off (MTO) activities, identify irregularities and shortfalls, take corrective action as required.
  20. Interact with Quality Assurance for quality issues; strictly ensure compliance with Client’s ISO Quality procedures. Coordinate Internal and Client audit requests; facilitate audit procedures of engineering systems within the department.
  21. Interface and provide clarification and guidance and technical support to construction sites and commissioning engineers, provide start-up assistance as required.
  22. Responsible for man-hour estimates, manpower planning and resource allocation.
  23. The focus is to maintain a stronghold of the project goals (Ensuring integrity & safety of the design, meeting quality as per contractual intent, meeting schedule, optimizing procurement & construction cost and maintaining high productivity).

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  1. Typically, Minimum bachelor’s degree in mechanical/chemical engineering, with 12+ years of related experience working as a Lead/Area Lead for Engineering / Client organization in the Chemical Industry.
  2. Exposure to FEED/ Detailed Design and EPC projects.
  3. Knowledge of international equipment specifications and code.
  4. In-depth knowledge of standard international specifications and codes.
  5. Preliminary knowledge of PDMS/E3D/SP3D and thorough knowledge of Navisworks and SPR.
  6. Knowledge of Safety and Quality procedures. Activity Scheduling and discipline work priorities.
