Job summary

WSP India is seeking an experienced Overhead Transmission Line Design Engineer to lead complex tower analyses and HV line routing projects. You will apply PLS-CADD, PLS-Tower, PLS-Pole, and STAAD.Pro within a broad design portfolio to deliver efficient and code-compliant solutions.

You will collaborate with clients and project teams, perform wind, seismic, and load studies, and produce detailed design reports and drawings for approvals. Hybrid work arrangements are available across India.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical, Civil, or Structural Engineering.
• 15+ years of overhead transmission line design and tower analysis.
• Proficient in PLS-CADD, PLS-Tower, PLS-Pole or STAAD.Pro, and AutoCAD.
• Strong understanding of transmission line engineering principles, materials, and construction practices.

We WSP a leading engineering consultancy firm, is seeking an experienced Overhead Transmission Line Design Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in transmission tower design, PLS-CADD, PLS-Tower, and related software. This role involves working on high-voltage transmission line projects, providing expert design solutions, and ensuring compliance with industry standards.

Responsibilities

• Design and analyze overhead transmission lines (11kV, 33kV to 400kV+) using PLS-CADD, PLS-Tower, PLS-Pole, and other tools.
• Optimize line routing, structure spotting, and conductor selection for cost-effective solutions.
• Develop and analyze self-supporting, guyed, and monopole transmission towers.
• Perform structural load analysis, foundation design, and stress calculations.
• Advanced expertise in PLS-CADD, PLS-Tower, PLS-Pole, STAAD.Pro, AutoCAD, and related engineering tools.
• Ensure all designs comply with IEEE, IEC, ASCE, NESC, ANSI, and other international standards.
• Conduct electrical clearance studies and load compliance reviews.
• Conduct wind, ice, seismic, and load impact studies as per project locations.
• Ensure electrical and mechanical clearances align with safety requirements.
• Support project teams by providing technical guidance, review of designs, and feasibility assessments.
• Conduct field visits for topographic surveys, line inspections, and validation of design parameters.
• Resolve site-specific technical challenges in collaboration with field teams.
• Develop detailed design reports, drawings, and engineering documentation for project approvals.
• Provide technical recommendations and support tender preparation.
• Stay updated on emerging technologies and industry trends to improve design efficiency.
• Identify and implement cost-effective solutions without compromising quality and safety.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelors or Masters degree in Electrical, Civil, or Structural Engineering.
• Experience: 15+ years of overhead transmission line design and tower analysis.
• Software Expertise: Proficient in PLS-CADD, PLS-Tower, PLS-Pole or STAAD.Pro, and AutoCAD.
• Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of transmission line engineering principles, materials, and construction practices.
• Communication Skills: Excellent ability to collaborate with clients, project teams, and regulatory authorities.
