Job summary

WSP India is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to oversee mechanical systems for a CCGT power plant. You will review OEM documents, ensure code compliance, and coordinate with EPCs and vendors to deliver reliable GT/ST packages.

The role involves interface management, design clarifications, and supporting installation, commissioning, and testing in a multidisciplinary team in Mumbai. Strong drawing review and EPC experience are essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (B.E./B.Tech) required or equivalent.
  • Master’s degree (M.E./M.Tech) preferred but not mandatory.
  • Strong understanding of GT and ST design, operation, and auxiliary systems.
  • Knowledge of mechanical package systems in a CCGT plant.
  • Proficiency in reading and reviewing engineering drawings and 3D models.
  • Familiarity with mechanical engineering codes and standards (ASME/API/ISO).
  • Experience with EPC project workflows and vendor engineering cycles.
  • MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • AutoCAD / drawing review tools.
  • Document management systems (Aconex, SharePoint).
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Good communication and coordination skills.
  • Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams.
  • Attention to detail and strong documentation discipline.

Responsibilities

  • Review OEM technical documents, P&IDs, GA drawings, installation manuals for GT/ST equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with project specs and industry codes.
  • Coordinate technical discussions with turbine OEMs on design clarifications and interfaces.
  • Support mechanical design assessments and auxiliary system integrations.
  • Handle mechanical packages like HRSG auxiliaries, cooling, fuel gas, pumps, heat exchangers, valves, and HVAC components.
  • Review data sheets, vendor offers, and technical bid evaluations.
  • Provide inputs for package layout, skid-based equipment, lifting/transport, and construction feasibility.
  • Review and approve GA drawings, P&IDs, Isometrics, MTO/BOM.
  • Ensure alignment with project standards, HSE, and interfaces.
  • Check document conformity to timelines and control processes.
  • Verify vendor compliance with ASME/ISO/API/NFPA and other codes.
  • Participate in audits, FAT/SAT, and inspections when required.
  • Ensure safety, operability, and maintainability of systems.
  • Provide technical support during installation, commissioning, and testing.
  • Coordinate with civil, electrical, and instrumentation teams.
  • Work with project managers and procurement to resolve queries.
  • Prepare progress reports and trackers.

Job Description

The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for the engineering, review, coordination, and technical assurance of mechanical systems and equipment within a Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) power plant. This includes Gas Turbines (GT), Steam Turbines (ST), Balance of Plant (BoP) mechanical packages, and vendor engineering deliverables. The role involves close interaction with OEMs, EPC contractors, vendors, and cross‑functional teams to ensure timely and compliant delivery of mechanical systems

Responsibilities
  • Review Gas Turbine and Steam Turbine OEM technical documents, P&IDs, GA drawings, installation manuals, and engineering data for GT and ST equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with project specifications, industry codes (ASME/API/ISO), and contractual requirements.
  • Coordinate technical discussions with turbine OEMs regarding design clarifications, interfaces, and performance guarantees.
  • Support mechanical design assessments, auxiliary system integrations, and operational reliability studies.
  • Handle mechanical packages such as HRSG auxiliaries, Cooling water systems, Fuel gas systems, Compressed air systems, Pumps, heat exchangers, valves, Firefighting & HVAC mechanical components.
  • Review mechanical data sheets, vendor offers, and technical bid evaluations (TBE).
  • Provide engineering inputs for package layout, skid‑based equipment, lifting/transport requirements, and construction feasibility.
  • Review and approve vendor drawings such as General Arrangement (GA) drawings, P&IDs, Isometrics, Material specifications (MTO / BOM)
  • Ensure alignment with project standards, HSE guidelines, and interface requirements.
  • Check document conformity to project timelines and document control processes.
  • Verify vendor compliance with ASME, ASTM, API, ISO, NFPA, and other mechanical engineering codes.
  • Participate in technical audits, FAT, SAT, and inspection activities when required.
  • Ensure all mechanical systems satisfy safety, operability, and maintainability criteria.
  • Provide technical support during installation, commissioning, and performance testing.
  • Coordinate with civil, electrical, and instrumentation teams for interface management.
  • Work with project managers, site engineers, and procurement teams to resolve engineering queries.
  • Prepare engineering progress reports and maintain documentation trackers.
