Job summary

WSP India is seeking a Senior Engineer in HV cables to design, install, and maintain high voltage cable systems across projects in Mumbai. You will lead project teams, ensure compliance with IEC standards and safety requirements, and provide technical guidance through all project phases.

The role requires expertise in CYMCAP, cable design, and HV cable engineering, with strong collaboration across disciplines and hands-on site assessment experience. Chartered engineer status is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Design, install, and maintain HV cable systems; lead projects and ensure safety.

• Provide technical leadership for multi-discipline projects.
• Witness 3rd party cable activities such as test, installation, transport.
• Prepare, review and validate Technical Proposals for Transmission & Distribution.
• Prepare technical documents and calculations using CYMCAP.
• System designing: bonding, earth continuity, co-axial cables, short circuit calculations.
• Experience with 3rd party witness and Chartered Engineer status.

Job Description

As a Senior Engineer in HV cables, you will design, install, and maintain high voltage cable systems. You will lead projects, ensuring compliance with technical specifications and safety standards. Your role includes collaborating with teams, conducting site assessments, and providing technical expertise to ensure reliable and efficient HV cable networks. Senior Engineer will provide technical leadership for the successful delivery of multi discipline projects.

Responsibilities

• Extensive experience in the design, manufacture and test of HV cables for use in HVAC and
• Desirable - HVDC projects both onshore and offshore; including HV cable system design and ratings (CYMCAP)
• An understanding of IEC cable standards and CIGRE technical policies, its suite of technical specifications and supporting documentation, and the capability to fulfil a role as a cable expert.
• Preparation, review and validation of Technical Proposal from Transmission & Distribution projects.
• Preparation of technical documents/calculations using Cable Modelling Software 'CYMCAP'.
• System designing experience - Selection of Bonding System, Earth Continuity Cable & Co-Axial Cable, Short circuit calculations, Cable Bonding layout.
• Experience of witnessing 3rd party cable activities such as test, installation, transport etc. Attained or working towards Chartered Engineer status.
