Job summary
Bank of America, Global Markets Technology, invites an experienced senior software engineer to join the India development team for FX electronic trading technology. This role focuses on defining the engineering approach and delivering strategic, complex solutions within a distributed UNIX/Linux environment.
You will lead design reviews, mentor teams, and ensure high-performance, scalable code with CI/CD in the SDLC, collaborating with product owners and QA across the program.

- CI/CD in SDLC; cloud architecture principles.
Responsibilities
- Leads the planning, definition, and design of complex features which span multiple teams and explores solution alternatives.
- Defines technology tool stack for the solution within approved technologies.
- Oversees design reviews and code within own domain; provides technical oversight to teams.
- Mentors teams on design and best practices for high-performance code.
- Leads end-to-end test strategy and integration between teams for a program/portfolio solution.
- Enables CI/CD and release management to maximize reusability and process optimization.
- Optimizes and tunes existing modules for better performance.
- Collaborates with product owners, scrum masters, and testing teams throughout the SDLC.

Global Markets Technology provides end-to-end technology solutions for Global Markets businesses including Equities, Prime Brokerage, Interest Rates, Currencies, Commodities, Derivatives and Structured Products. Across all these products, solutions include architecture, design, development, change management, implementation and support using various enterprise technologies. In addition, GMT provides Sales, Electronic Trading, Trade Work Flow, Pricing, and Market Risk, Middle office, Collateral Management, Credit Risk, Post-trade confirmation, Settlement and Client service processes for Trading, Capital Markets, and Wealth Management businesses.
FX electronic trading technology contains a suite of applications, with a complex eco system, architecture, multiple business flows, upstream and downstream dependencies. This is a critical institutional front office trading application supported 24 by 5 supporting all global locations for FX business.
The successful candidate will join the India development team of FX electronic trading technology.
Individual contributor role; is responsible for defining and leading the engineering approach for solutions at the program or portfolio level to deliver significant business outcomes. Key responsibilities include design/delivery of critical strategic complex business projects along with the India team. Continuously improving the design, quality, and reuse of the solution and delivering technology enablers that improve development efficiencies for the solution. They are experts in at least one area of engineering and acts as a "go-to-" reference across the organization. As experts, they play a role in improving technical competency in their area through recruitment and development activities.
Leads the planning, definition, and design of complex features which span multiple teams and explores solution alternatives.
- Creates ideas on designing complex technology and solution development approaches - e.g., boundary condition coverage for complex technology issues.
- Help validate the economic impact of design decisions.
- Leads technical oversight for teams in solution development including design reviews and code within own domain.
- Supports/mentors/coaches' team(s) on design and best practices for high code performance e.g., pairing, code reviews
- Accountable for defining the technology tool stack for the solution within range of internally approved and supported technologies.
- Explores state-of-the-art technologies to improve development efficiencies, quality of test/QA coverage, and release management.
- Leads and is responsible for the end-to-end test strategy/creation/adherence, and the integration between teams for a program/portfolio solution.
- Enables a program/portfolio solution with CI/CD capabilities and release management; Responsible for maximizing reusability, ensuring process optimization and efficient functioning of CI-CD pipeline.
- Optimize and tune existing modules for better performance
- Collaborate with product owners, scrum masters, testing teams throughout the SDLC process.
- Fully leverage AI tools during the SDLC cycle with clear measurable delivery velocity improvements
Graduate / Postgraduate in Computer Science engineering or equivalent

- Hands-on Software Development in C++ preferably on UNIX/Linux in a distributed application environment
- Strong in C++ application design and development that includes strong multi-threading

- Strong in application architecture concepts/patterns/uses
- Knowledge and experience with message-based systems (Tibco RV/IBM MQ/Zero MQ)
- Experience using AI assisted development tools with good prompt engineering skills
- Strong SQL and related DB skills - indexing, transaction management (Sybase/Oracle/MS SQL)
- Good in NO SQL databases, distributed caching technologies and their use
- Strong in system design concepts for a distributed application development
- Hands on experience in scripting languages like Python/Perl.
- Strong UNIX command knowledge including experience in writing shell scripts
- Strong working knowledge of leveraging CI/CD pipelines in SDLC
- Knowledge of Cloud architecture principles
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills
