GE Renewable Energy Technologies Private Limited in Bengaluru seeks a Senior Engineer – Gas Turbine Combustion design to formulate and lead combustion NPI and fleet projects with full ownership of mechanical design, schedule and deliverables.
You will mentor teams, resolve cross-functional issues with Aero Thermal, operability, services and system teams, and apply advanced 2D/3D analyses to improve performance, reliability and emissions while controlling cost.
The Senior Engineer – Gas Turbine Combustion design is responsible for formulating, planning, independently leading and executing combustion NPI and Fleet projects with complete ownership of mechanical design, it’s schedule and quality of deliverables. In this role, You will provide leadership to resolve critical combustion design issues from engineering perspective, hardware issues, manufacturing issues, qualifications and variable cost out initiatives. This role will provide opportunity to apply creativity, imagination to develop combustion system for world class gas turbine engines considering cost, reliability, operability and emissions. You will interact with world’s best minds to advance cutting edge Combustion technology and work towards net zero emission energy production.
Lead and execute the Mechanical design of combustion system for gas turbine engine, using sound engineering principles and adhering to the business standards, practices, procedures, and product/program requirements. Own and solve business challenging programs, RCAs and supplier/manufacturing issue with proactive approach working independently/with team. Demonstrate component ownership mindset and self-driven approach to understand fleet history, issues and its resolutions. Detailed 2D/3D analyses and leveraging fleet experience as required to evaluate and mitigate component and system level risks. Think beyond existing technical solution, evaluates technical options and owns the accountability of the selected path forward. Drive and contribute towards variable cost productivity for combustion components. Proactively collaborate with cross functional teams – Aero Thermal, operability, services and system team for system level optimization. Develop component design/technology improvement road map by understanding the fleet history. Proactively identifies, promotes and champions continuous improvement opportunities for quality process. Identify the gaps in analytical vs. lab/field data and develop/enable the tools and design practices. Collaborate with controlled title holders/CE offices and ensure review rigor and attention to detail. Develop new ideas and drives into the product with validation. Leverages technology across the domains. Act as a technical mentor with respect to depth, breadth and system knowledge for the team on immediate program and beyond. Master’s or bachelor’s in engineering with specialization in Mechanical, Design and Applied mechanics. At least 10+ years of experience in the field of Gas Turbine mechanical design, FE analysis, Lifing techniques, GD&T, stack up calculations, engineering drawings & Bill Of Materials and relevant tools.
Strong interpersonal, leadership skills and ability to work well in a team environment with a positive "can do" attitude. Recognized experts in component structural design. Experience with LCF, HCF, fracture mechanics, high temp creep calculations and assessment. Self-starter and ability to handle multiple projects. Fleet life management and component ownership experience. Excellent communication and presentation skills. Experience with digital analytics techniques to enhance life interval/life improvement of the components.
