Job summary

ReNew is seeking a skilled BoP O&M lead for our solar plant to manage substation systems, HV transmission line infrastructure, and grid coordination with regional bodies. You will ensure safe, reliable plant evacuation and compliance with OEM guidelines.

Key responsibilities include preventive maintenance, fault troubleshooting, coordination with RLDC/NRLDC/SLDC, and rigorous safety practices to maintain high availability and performance of the BoP and transmission assets.

Qualifications

• Experience in solar plant BoP O&M with substations and transmission lines.
• Knowledge of EHV/HV equipment, switching operations, relay and protection systems.
• Ability to coordinate with grid bodies (NRLDC/RLDC/SLDC) and follow shutdown procedures.
• Good understanding of SLDs, relay schemes, control diagrams, and statutory safety requirements.
• Strong documentation and safety compliance capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain BoP electrical systems incl. substation equipment and transformers.
• Ensure preventive maintenance, inspection, testing, and reliable plant evacuation per OEM guidelines and SOPs.
• Manage patrolling and maintenance of HV transmission line infrastructure and towers.
• Coordinate with grid bodies for shutdowns, line charging, synchronization, and outages.
• Troubleshoot substation and line faults and support quick restoration of plant evacuation systems.
• Interpret SLDs, protection schemes, relay indications, and switching procedures.
• Monitor transformer health, breaker performance, and protection systems; report in DGR.
• Maintain switching records, outage logs, relay indications, and maintenance history.
• Ensure safe O&M via PTW/LOTO, PPE and site safety standards.
• Coordinate with SCADA, operations, maintenance teams, OEMs, and contractors for shutdowns and restoration.
• Participate in root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
• Manage spares and material requirements for substation and transmission line equipment.
• Ensure housekeeping, safety signage, fire readiness, and discipline in switchyard/BoP areas.

Job Description

Role Purpose

To lead BoP O&M activities of the solar plant with responsibility for substation systems, HV transmission line infrastructure, grid coordination with NRLDC/SLDC, and safe and reliable plant evacuation.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain BoP electrical systems including EHV/HV substation equipment, transformers, breakers, isolators, CT/PT, protection and control panels, batteries, and auxiliary systems.
• Ensure preventive maintenance, inspection, testing, and reliable operation of the substation and plant evacuation system as per OEM guidelines, SOPs, and statutory requirements.
• Manage patrolling, inspection, and maintenance of HV transmission line / tower line infrastructure including towers, conductors, insulators, jumpers, OPGW/earth wire, and tower earthing.
• Coordinate with NRLDC / RLDC / SLDC / CTU / STU for shutdowns, line charging, synchronization, outage planning, restoration, and compliance with grid instructions.
• Carry out troubleshooting of substation and line equipment faults and support quick restoration of plant evacuation systems.
• Understand and interpret SLDs, protection schemes, relay indications, control schematics, and switching procedures for safe operation and fault analysis.
• Monitor transformer health, breaker performance, protection system operation, and transmission line condition to ensure availability and reliability and report accordingly in DGR.
• Maintain switching records, outage logs, relay indications, shutdown reports, line patrolling reports, and maintenance history in the reporting system.
• Ensure safe O&M execution through PTW, LOTO, electrical isolation, PPE compliance, and adherence to site safety standards.
• Report UA, UC, NM, FAC, MTC, and LTI in the system and ensure timely closure of safety observations and abnormalities.
• Coordinate with SCADA, operations, maintenance teams, OEMs, and contractors for shutdowns, testing, emergency restoration, and reliability improvement.
• Participate in root cause analysis of trips, transformer / line faults, protection operations, and repeated BoP failures, and implement corrective actions.
• Manage spares and material requirement for substation and transmission line equipment.
• Ensure proper housekeeping, safety signage, fire protection readiness, and discipline in switchyard and BoP areas.
• Perform any other BoP O&M activity related to substation reliability, transmission line integrity, and safe plant operation as assigned by management.
