Overview
Summary: The Data Engineer is a key role within the Data + Insights team at Reuters. This individual will partner with the insights team to gather requirements and work across technology, finance, product, sales, and wider data teams to ensure seamless data ingestion, processing, and maintenance of existing and new datasets. The individual will play a central role in the team’s delivery of actionable data-enabled insights that will empower Reuters to accelerate growth globally.
Responsibilities
- Lead Data Engineering projects to support accurate reporting and analyses for all areas of Reuters’ business, including a single large customer, thousands of media clients, and several digital properties.
- Support all back-end data flows and connections from multiple sources enabling the team to generate both enterprise level reporting as well as deep insights that enhance individual businesses and products.
- Build, maintain and optimize data modelling, including cloud data ingestion, outflow & enrichment workflows.
- Build and maintain data processing workflows feeding our analytics systems.
- Optimize data pipelines from various systems.
- Develop set processes such as user engagement, user segmentation, content usage analysis feeding our analytics systems.
- Facilitate reliable integrations with internal systems and third-party APIs.
- Provide continued development support for existing analytics applications and platforms.
- Spot anomalies and ensure clean data on all systems.
- Proficient in performance tuning of complex stored procedures.
- Research and develop statistical learning models for data analysis.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field.
- Proficient in SQL and cloud database management, experience with Snowflake, SQL Server, dbt (dbt core), Python.
- Working experience with AWS services like EC2, S3, Lambda.
- 6+ years of Data Warehouse experience having demonstrated strength in data modelling and warehousing.
Desired Skills / Good to have
- Experience in C#, ASP.Net
- Working experience in PySpark
- Knowledge of data visualization tools and frameworks like Tableau, Power BI.
- Working knowledge of semantic models, CI/CD, Airflow.
- Writing efficient, reusable and scalable code. Enhancing the functionalities of current software applications.
- Media industry experience.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate complex technology solutions to senior leadership, gain alignment, and drive progress.
