GALAXEYE SPACE SOLUTIONS PRIVATE LIMITED in Bengaluru seeks an experienced embedded software engineer for the C&DH team to design and maintain onboard software for spacecraft.

You will develop low-level firmware, BSPs, RTOS-based architectures, and Embedded Linux drivers. The role involves working with SPI/I2C/UART/CAN/Ethernet, SpaceWire, CCSDS, and telemetry/health software for mission-critical systems.

Qualifications

• Strong programming in C/C++ for embedded systems.
• Memory management concepts: stack/heap/static allocation, alignment, DMA.
• RTOS concepts including task scheduling, IPC, and memory management.
• Embedded Linux internals, drivers, and user-space applications.
• Experience with RTOS such as FreeRTOS, Zephyr, or ThreadX.
• Linux-based embedded systems experience: device drivers, build systems (Yocto/Buildroot), Python scripting.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain embedded software for spacecraft C&DH systems.
• Develop low-level firmware and BSPs for microcontrollers, SoCs, and FPGA-integrated systems.
• Implement real-time software architectures (Bare Metal/RTOS).
• Develop and optimize Embedded Linux applications, drivers, and middleware.
• Work on interfaces and protocols: SPI, I2C, UART, CAN, Ethernet, PCIe, SpaceWire, CCSDS.
• Develop telemetry, fault management, health-monitoring software; perform debugging and profiling.
• Support hardware bring-up, system integration, and mission operations.
• Collaborate with avionics, FPGA, systems, and operations teams; contribute to CI/CD and verification.

GalaxEye aims toshape the future of Satellite Image Acquisition, providing the most meaningfuldatasets, thus helping businesses and governments make data-driven decisionsbased on insights from satellite imagery. We will provide Satellite ImageryDatasets and Value-added services to Geospatial Analytics Companies andInfrastructure enterprises. At GalaxEye , we are working to build the best remote sensing satellites and also,we are researching various aspects of remote sensing.

The C&DH (Command& Data Handling) team at GalaxEye is responsible fordesigning and developing the onboard computing and embedded softwareinfrastructure that powers our satellite constellation. The team works acrossembedded platforms, real-time systems, onboard communications, and flightsoftware, encompassing Bare Metal, RTOS, and Embedded Linux-based developmentfor mission-critical spacecraft operations.

The team operates ina highly interdisciplinary environment where embedded software, FPGA systems,avionics hardware, and mission operations come together to build reliable andhigh-performance satellite systems. We foster a culture of strong ownership, whereengineers are expected to independently drive technical solutions, proactivelyidentify and solve system-level challenges and provide strong engineeringjustifications while collaborating closely across hardware, FPGA, systems, andoperations teams to deliver robust space-qualified solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain embedded software for spacecraft C&DHsystems.
• Develop low-level firmware and board support packages (BSP) formicrocontrollers, SoCs, and FPGA-integrated systems.
• Implement real-time software architectures using Bare Metal and RTOSenvironments.
• Develop and optimize Embedded Linux applications, drivers, andmiddleware.
• Work on communication interfaces and protocols such as SPI, I2C, UART,CAN, Ethernet, PCIe, SpaceWire, and CCSDS-based interfaces.
• Implement low-level drivers for micro controllers and SoCs (ADC, PWM, GPIO, Timers, RTC, Flash, EEPROM, etc.).
• Develop telemetry, tele-command, fault management, watchdog, boot loader,and health-monitoring software.
• Perform debugging, profiling, and performance optimization on targethardware.
• Support hardware bring-up, system integration, environmental testing,and mission operations.
• Contribute to software architecture, coding standards, CI/CD pipelines,and verification activities.
• Collaborate closely with avionics, FPGA, systems, and mission operationsteams.

Requirements

• Strong programming expertise in C/C++ for embedded systems.
• Strong understanding of:

o Memory (stack/heap, static allocation, alignment, DMA coherency/cachesif relevant)

o RTOS concepts (task scheduling, synchronization, IPC, memory management)

o Embedded Linux internals and driver/application development

• Experience with one or more RTOS like FreeRTOS , Zephyr, ThreadX.
• Experience in Linux-based embedded systems like Device drivers,Kernel/user-space interaction, Build systems (Yocto/Buildroot) , Scripting experience in Python .
• Strong debugging skills using JTAG , GDB, Logic analyzers andOscilloscope.
• Experience with communication protocols: SPI, I2C, UART, CAN, Ethernet,PCIe.
• Understanding software reliability, fault tolerance, and safety-criticalsystem design.

PreferredQualifications :

• Bachelor’s/Master's degree inElectronics, Embedded Systems, Computer Science, VLSI, or related field.
• 5-8 years of experience inembedded software or flight software development.
• Experience in aerospace, satellite, defense, robotics, or autonomoussystems.
• Knowledge of spacecraft onboard software architecture and missionoperations.
• Experience with FPGA-software co-design and MPSoC platforms.
• Familiarity with CCSDS, ECSS, or DO-178 development practices.
• Exposure to AI accelerators, edge computing, or high-speed data handlingsystems.
• Strong systems-level thinking with ownership mindset.
• Able to independently debug hardware - software integration issues.
• Comfortable working in fast-paced R&D or space-tech environments.
• Passionate about building reliable real-time systems formission-critical applications.
