Job summary

Persistent Systems is seeking a Senior Embedded C/C++ Developer in India. The role focuses on C/C++ development for embedded and OS-level systems, including Linux kernel programming, device drivers, and storage domains.

You will work across Linux kernel space, container runtimes, and debugging complex kernel issues. The candidate will mentor juniors, participate in architectural discussions, and collaborate with QA/Support to resolve critical issues, while promoting secure coding and knowledge

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on expertise in C and C++ programming for embedded and OS-level systems.
• Experience with Linux kernel programming, device drivers, or networking stacks and storage domain.
• Experience writing code within the Linux kernel space (VFS layer or character/block drivers).
• Deep understanding of container architectures (OverlayFS, Namespaces, Cgroups) within Docker/Kubernetes.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain core modules of multiple products in C/C++ for embedded OS environments.
• Mentor and review code, ensuring quality, performance, and secure coding practices.
• Participate in design discussions and contribute to architectural decisions with the Architect.
• Collaborate with QA and Support to resolve critical bugs, vulnerabilities, and customer issues.
• Document technical solutions and share knowledge through KT sessions.

We are looking for a candidate with C/C++ development experience with Linux kernel development, storage domain experience.

• Role: Senior Embedded C/C++ Developer

What You'll Do:

• Strong hands-on expertise in C and C++ programming for embedded and OS-level systems. Experience with Linux/Unix kernel programming, device drivers, or networking stacks and storage domain.
• Linux Kernel Engineering: Experience writing code within the Linux kernel space, specifically involving the Virtual File System (VFS) layer or character/block drivers.
• Container Architecture: A deep understanding of layered file systems (OverlayFS) and runtime isolation mechanisms (Namespaces, Cgroups) within Docker and Kubernetes architectures.
• Expert Triage & Debugging: A strong background in crash dump analysis (kdump/crash), dissecting memory corruption, and resolving complex execution races between multi-threaded applications and kernel security hooks.

Expertise You'll Bring:

• Ability to mentor and guide junior developers, including performing code reviews and sharing best practices.
• Strong problem-solving, debugging, and analytical skills with a proactive approach to resolving complex issues.
• Effective collaboration and communication skills, with experience working in distributed, cross-functional teams.
• Responsibility: Develop and maintain core modules of multiple products in C/C++ and embedded OS environments. Mentor and guide junior developers, reviewing their code for quality, performance, and adherence to secure coding practices.

• Experience in using Generative AI in software engineering.
