Job Profile
a) Roles and Responsibilities
The candidate will independently, or with minimal guidance, prepare detailed engineering deliverables for MW-scale electrolyser or bioenergy-based green hydrogen generation plants.
- Prepare load lists, feeder lists, cable sizing calculations, transformer sizing calculations, CT/VT sizing calculations, relay setting and coordination studies, earthing sizing calculations, tray loading calculations, lighting system calculations, bus duct sizing, battery sizing, and UPS calculations.
- Prepare technical specifications for transformers, HV/LV switchgear, DC and UPS systems, HV/LV cables, lighting, cabling and earthing system components, control and protection systems, rectifiers, and bus ducts.
- Conduct feasibility studies to support finalisation of appropriate technical specifications.
- Develop layouts for cable raceways, grounding and shielding systems, indoor and outdoor lighting, and electrical equipmentincluding substations, transformer yards, switchgear rooms, and hazardous areas.
- Prepare bills of materials for major equipment and bulk items for hazardous and non-hazardous areas.
- Review vendor offers and prepare technical evaluation reports.
- Prepare single-line diagrams, protection and metering SLDs, SCADA/SAS architecture, and I/O lists.
- Ensure compliance with IS/IEC standards, statutory requirements, and customer specifications in all design deliverables.
- Conduct factory acceptance tests across India, review routine and type-test reports, and issue technical clearances.
- Provide site support as a design representative, including supervision of pre-commissioning field tests, witnessing energisation, and preparing necessary test protocols. The role requires approximately 20% travel across India.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering teams, professional consultants, vendors, suppliers, and contractors.
b) Critical Competencies for the Job
- Experience of working in a multidisciplinary EPC environment.
- Hands-on experience in design engineering for MW-scale industrial, process plant, energy, power generation, oil and gas, or T & D projects.
- Ability to develop engineering deliverables from scratch.
- Proactive and agile approach suited to a start-up business environment.
- Flexibility to undertake responsibilities beyond the defined role, based on project requirements.
- Ability to work on fast-track projects with demanding timelines.
- Ability to manage and deliver multiple tasks or projects simultaneously.
- Ability to understand and implement evolving technologies within the hydrogen ecosystem.
- Strong knowledge of electrical codes and standards, including IEC, IEEE, and IS, with practical application in engineering deliverables.
- Proficiency in MS Office and MS Excel.
- Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD.
c) Desired Competencies for the Job
The following skills are preferred but not mandatory:
- Experience in proposal engineering.
- Knowledge of power system studies, including short-circuit current calculations, load-flow studies, and harmonic analysis.
- Working knowledge of ETAP or similar power-system analysis software.
