Job summary

Hitachi Energy India Limited in Maneja, Gujarat invites an experienced Designer Electrical to join our engineering team. You will lead design and engineering tasks for power transformers and shunt reactors, ensuring customer requirements are met on time and within cost targets.

The role requires a BE/BTech in Electrical or higher, 5+ years of hands-on design experience, proficiency in CAD tools (Creo/Magnet), and strong communication in English to coordinate with customers and internal teams.

Qualifications

• BE / B.Tech (Electrical) / M.E/M.Tech/M.S with 5+ years of industry experience in electrical design of power transformers and shunt reactors.
• Overall understanding and domain expertise in power transformer and shunt reactor testing.
• Knowledge of 2-D and 3-D CAD software packages like Creo/Magnet or similar.
• Fluent in English (written and spoken).

Responsibilities

• Design and engineering tasks for Power Transformers.
• Understand customer requirements during quotation and after project receipt.
• Follow engineering processes to create order designs and documents with cost awareness.
• Perform design verification using applicable standards and customer requirements.
• Prepare manufacturing documents (Core-winding-active part 3D models, 2D drawings, BOM) in ERP.
• Lead design reviews and customer discussions for approvals and clarifications.
• Coach new designers and colleagues.

2. Main Accountabilities

Design & Engineering Tasks

• Design & Engineering Tasks (Power Transformers)
• Understand customer requirements during quotation stage and after project receipt.
• Follow engineering process to create order designs and documents, keeping project cost in mind while fully aligning with customer specifications.
• Perform design verification using engineering tools, standards, and customer requirements.
• Compile organize and archive documentation for assigned projects.
• Proactively identify risks and mitigate in solution concept stage in consultation with Manager.
• Align with manufacturing plan to deliver design specifications and create requirements in ERP.
• Actively participate in Design review meetings before finalizing detailed engineering solution.
• Knowledge of 2D/3D FEM applied to electrostatic/electromagnetic simulation is preferred.
• Visit and lead discussions with customers for Design reviews, approvals & clarifications.
• Using latest technology and tools, optimize and adopt innovative design solutions employing best practices.
• Prepare/check manufacturing documents for Core-winding-active part 3D models, 2D drawings and Bill of material in ERP.
• Plan and monitor assigned projects consistently achieving related KPIs.
• Support services for Erection, Commissioning and site related technical matters.
• Possess knowledge of Indian and International Standards & Codes – IEC, IEEE, BIS, DIN, ISO for electrical design related aspects of power transformers and shunt reactors.
• Coaching of new designers and colleagues.
• OVERALL UNDERSTANDING AND DOMAIN EXPERTISE IN POWER TRANSFOR MER AND SHUNT REACTOR TESTING

Review and Technical Support

• Plan, Participate and Lead Design Reviews, joint inspections while guiding other functions such as Manufacturing and Quality.
• Perform Troubleshooting, analyzing failures, prepare and implement RCA actions.
• Provide technical support to SCM for vendor development and evaluation.
• Coaching of new designers and colleagues.
• OVERALL UNDERSTANDING AND DOMAIN EXPERTISE IN POWER TRANSFOR MER AND SHUNT REACTOR TESTING

3. Knowledge, Skills & Experience

• B.E / B.Tech (Electrical) / M.E/M.Tech/M.S( High Voltage or Power System or Electrical Machines.) with 5 year or more years of industry experience in Electrical designing of Power Transformers and Shunt Reactors
• Overall understanding and domain expertise in Power Transformer and Shunt reactor testing
• Preferred to have knowledge and exposure to 2-D and 3-D CAD software packages like Creo/MagNet or similar.
• You have the interest and ability to work with cross competence topics.
• Having experience of working on optimization and cost saving projects utilizing alternative materials, processes, and solutions.
